[2022]
Nighttime, this is the third party and Finn was introduced and it went well. Nobody really cared when he just showed up, most Vamps had made jokes about possibly drinking his blood if he had donated.
"MoonDrop," I heard Dad's voice call out to me, I excused myself and walked over. "How have you been with the Shaw pack?" It was just us two, he put an arm around me and squeezed. "It's been pretty well! The Pack has been more? Carefree?" I answered. He chuckled as he led us outside.
The summer breeze was nice and the natural chilliness of the night air was a wonderful mix, the moonlight was barely shining through the trees. Dad sat down and I followed suit, "It's been 5 years since that day you know." I nodded, "When you were cursed by moi~!" I joked. I toyed with the Ruby necklace, originally it was on a choker but if I shifted it would've snapped so we changed it into something more practical.
"You mean when I was blessed with you," He seemed fond of that memory, "Edith, I never imagined that I would have a child to take care of. Yes, I do care for my prodigies but it isn't the same. But that isn't what I came here to talk about." The mood had darkened and his core felt heavy, I felt my heartbeat speed up.
"Linda is here." I took a straightened up back, no? How could she? She's not aware of the magical world-then how! I snapped my head up in confusion. "I told you as caution, but if you wish to confront her please take Vincent." I nodded, making my way back in. I could feel his core being guilt-ridden just by telling me that.
I calmed myself down and looked for Vincent's core, when I did I had to pull him away from his partner. When I was about to explain why I did that, he told me that Dad already told him. He led me to my 'mother', we stood some way as to wait for the crowd to disperse from her.
"Mrs. Jewel! Have you met Edith-Solaire?" Vincent gave a small show, "No, I have not!" She extended her hand, I took it nervously and shook it. "It's-I would say 'pleasure' but knowing what you've done! It would be a lie." She yanked her hand back, apparently she was turned at some point these past few years I was gone.
"I have no clue! I am just simply astonished that you have a filthy mouth." She feigned confusion. I could feel the cores of some surrounding Vamps tense up. I glared at her, "Well! Why don't we ask Mary?" I retorted. I don't want to spend long with her. She let out an audible gasp, along from other Vampires.
"She is dead, her anniversary has passed. How can you touch a sensitive subject!" Her voice seemed to echo. The silence after that was loud. I heard the rifting noise, and felt Caelum's core. Oh, Fuck. Whelp. Oh well.
"Well! Let's start that you are- or were a strict Christian! SO much that you locked up your only daughter in the basement!" I announced, not only to her but the entire room. She dropped the drink she was holding. "You carved into her skin verses from the Bible! Like a damned cultist, which I may add. And! Why?" I asked. Her mouth opened and closed, astonished I knew such things.
"Why would you do these things to a child! And let's not add you took such information from another child!" I moved towards her, tears began to swell up in both our eyes. "All because you thought she was sinner? A mistake? Or a devil's child?" I clutched the shawl I was wearing, I could hear the heavy lace ripping from how tight I was holding it.
"I would nev-," She began, but I removed my shawl and threw it at her, "LIES! I was her! You have no defense, you were a horrible mother! Even if I can call you that! In which I can't! Look at me for Christ sake!" The sea of cores had seemed to snap, everything seemed dizzy, I felt myself sway. My mind felt like it was slipping, my Core overheating. Fuck, I need to hurry.
