Chapter 33 {Flashback}

[April 2022]

It felt extremely awkward to be in front of Vincent, but I just looked directly at his eyes. His gray familiar eyes, I had my necklace out in the open. But what made it extremely difficult is that we both knew William in similar ways but very different.

"Sooo," He started, "Edith, right?" I nodded, "It's quite a pleasure to meet you, Vincent." Fuck, I cringed a bit. Back with the formal talk. He chuckled a bit.

"How long have you been Will's kid?" I responded with seven years. He leaned back in his chair, "He really kept you a secret for that long from us?" I shook my head.

"Sam had met me back in 2015," I looked at my hands, "I was still frightened by magic. Was made to believe it was a punishment from God." I frowned, it still troubles me thinking what would've happened to me if I hadn't fled from her.

"Shit! Really?" I laughed at his expression, he ran his hands through his slicked back black hair. It reached his mid-back. He wore like a mix of grunge and cyberpunk, an interesting combination.

"Yeah, Linda was a real hot mess," I waved it off, "I could write a book if I could remember half the stuff that happened to me." I felt his Core flatten, then it perked up.

"Wait? Linda? Like Linda Jewels," His voice was filled with disbelief, "she only has one kid who-." I interrupted him.

"Who was claimed dead in that house fire," I shrugged, "I set the house on fire...by accident...then ran to the forest and lost my control over my Core. Dad found me two years later, then poof! All of a sudden I'm a Solaire." I waved my hands a bit to express it a bit further.

The conversation went smoothly after that, he told me about his life before he was turned and I told him about all the things I did while stuck undercover. It was quite nice to talk to another member of the Clan that wasn't Dad or Sam.

"May I come in?" Dad knocked on the door, and came in without either of us answering. "Hi Dad!" I waved at him, not knowing what else to do.

"Hello MoonDrop," He sat down next to me, "Vincent, what do you think of my kid?" Vincent smiled, "They're actually quite nice to talk to. Kinda weird that they were hidden all this time." Dad chuckled and agreed with him.

"If I knew they would get along well I'd"ve introduced two sooner," Dad gestured to us two, "but time is running short. We must hurry along Edith." I nodded and stood saying our farewells to Vincent who had to go to Lance.

He had errands to run so he dropped me off at home with a kiss on the forehead, "Make sure you eat, and don't forget-!" I finished it for him, "You love me, I won't forget that ever Dad." He chuckled and waved me goodbye.

I opened the first door and unlocked the second and went inside. I went straight to the kitchen and began making myself something to eat, when I finished I cleaned up and headed up to get ready for bed. Maybe I should reorganize my library, and clean my room. I shrugged it off and marked it for later.
