"Dad?" She asked, her eyes wide in shock.
Her father aproached her slowly and placed his hand on her cheek, which was still clammy from the tears.
"My darling, I'm really sorry. I couldn't find you. She made sure of that. But it's over, I promise"
"Over?" She asked. "What's over?"
"This" He said "You're coming home with me"
Hazel stopped dead. Coming home with his father! That would mean living with Nico! Everything she wanted could be real.
But, on the other hand, she couldn't just leave her mother. That had been the reason she came back from the Zhangs' , and the reason she was now broken.
She had fought way too much to abandon it all now. Because it didn't matter what she wanted. It was what she ought to do.
"I can't" She said, and grabbed a broom "This place needs cleaning. And mother needs someone here"
His father took the broom from her hands
"You will never have to suffer like this" He said.
"But I have to!" She screamed while grabbing the broomstick with all her strenght "It's not something I want, dad, but I have to!"
Hades Di Angelo aproached her, his hand brushing her cheek.
"Did she do this to you?"
"It was my fault" She excused "I tripped"
His gaze lowered to her bloody skirt
"And that?"
"Tripped again" She looked at the floor.
"That's it, you're coming" He announced.
Hazel tried to deny it once more, but his father picked her up from the floor andtook her to the car.
"Let me down!" She yelled.
"Your brother is in the car. Stay with him while I sort things with Marie"
"She'll kill herself!" She screamed.
"I won't let her"
And, with that, he placed Hazel inside the car and locked it.
She fought with the door handle, struggling, until it was sure she was locked.
"UGH!" She huffed, before letting her body fall into a seat.
"Sissy?" A voice asked.
She turned to her left side and saw a familiar face, with messy black hair and olive skin.
"Nico!"
She engulfed him in a hug, which he returned eagerly until he brushed her kneed with his body. She winced, hissing in pain, and rethreated.
"Sorry" She muttered
But Nico was franatical. He lifted her long skirt and stared at her knees.
"What happened?"
"I'm clumsy" She said "And need to go back"
It took Nico aproximately five seconds to fasten his sister's seatbelt and grab her amr.
"No, sissy. I just got you back. I'm not loosing you again"
Hazel's gaze softened, but guilt was still unbearable.
"I need to do this!" She told him "Why won't you just understand? It's my mother, and it's my responsability"
"That's what I meant" He looked into her eyes, desperate "It's not your problem"
"Every mother would do it for her child" Hazel argued "Too bad it's the other way round for me"
"THAT'S IT!" Hades screamed, getting into the car.
The second he crossed the door and saw his children, he softened and stopped screaming.
"Kids, we're going home" He said while he started the engine.
"And my mother?" Hazel asked.
"Signed her up in a mental facility. About damn time I did. Now let's get home"
He drove slowly. The sound of the street was relaxing. Hazel found herself free for thefirst time in her life and didn't know how to manage it.
So she curled up in a ball in her seat and closed her eyes.
"Are you ok my darling?" She heard her father ask.
She mumbled a reply before falling asleep, the sound of wheels against the road lulling her.
When she woke up again, she found herself at a bed. She was confused and didn't know where she was.
The sheets were warm and seemed to wrap her inside. However, she fought against the feeling and got up.
She remembered pieces from the day before, enough to give her a clue of where she was.
"Nico? Dad?"
It took the guys seconds to come reaching for her.
"I'm making dinner" Her father excused "Anything you crave?"
"It's ok" She mumbled.
When he left, she was left alone with her brother. She gestured at him to sit beside her and he did so.
She placed her hands inside his sleeve. It was their gesture, a confidence bond, just like telling the other they trusted them with their life.
"So..." Nico started "The Olympus Ballet Academy"
"We'll be there together, like we had always dreamed" Hazel looked up dreamily.
"You deserve to be there. When I saw you dance... Hazel, you're meant to do this"
She smiled, but her gaze darkened quickly.
"I don't think I'm good enough to 'do this'" She said "Look at me! I don't have the body, nor the skills to be a profesional"
"But you've got talent" He smiled "That covers the rest"
She got up and turned in her spot.
"You think so?"
"I am sure" He smiled "Hey, you could meet my friends when you go back!"
She stopped spinning and turned at him
"You. Friends?"
"Is it so hard to believe?" He blushed
"Nah" Hazel ruffled his hair "I was just messing with you"
So they chitchatted for hours, about the most trivial things. They danced in the empty room and chatted some more.
Hazel discovered that Nico's best friends were called Reyna and Will. She was dying to meet them when she got back to the academy.
She was hanging from the desk when Nico asked.
"And, what's your goal?"
She jumped to the floor and smiled.
"You know what? A goal without a plan is just a wish."
"Oh... So you have a plan?" He asked
"I'm going to be myself" She smiled
