CHAPTER FIVE: DIG DUG

While the three of them sat in Will's room, Joyce went around the house putting all the pieces of the map together.

"It's like I feel what the monster is feeling, seeing what he's seeing." Will told Mike.

"like you did in the upside down?" Mike sat down next to him.

While Mike and Will were talking, Valerie got up and walked over to Will's super-com. Dustin was screaming from it. She taken it to the bathroom before pulling the antenna up and talked into it.

"What?" Her voice was so raspy, it shocked dustin a bit.

"Where are you?! Nobody else is answering me!" Dustin yelled.

"Can you please shut up?!" A young girl rudely interrupted, her voice clear as day. Valerie almost laughed her ass off.

"Erica? Erica! Is Lucas there?" Dustin questioned the young girl frantically. Valerie debated on cutting in again.

"don't know, don't care." Erica told Dustin.

"Is he with Mike?" Dustin questioned, but little did he know Mike was actually here with Will. "Like I said I have a code-"

"Code red?" Erica cut him off again.

"Yep. Code Red, exactly!"

Valerie was about to jump in when Erica spoke once more, "I have a code for you instead, code shut-your-mouth!"

Valerie laughed while bring the super-com up to her mouth and pressed the button, "I like her. Anyways Dustin what's the problem?"

"First off when did you have a supercom?" Dustin asked and Valerie rolled her eyes.

"I'm using Will's. So what's going on?"

"Meet me at the train tracks. 6 on the dot." Valerie pushed the antenna down when static began to come. She stood up from the tub and returned to Will's room. Only Mike was there.

"Where's Will?" She asked as she returned his supercom to its spot.

"Talking to Joyce. Are you okay?" Mike looked up at her and Valerie noticed the fear and worry behind them. She flashed him a soft smile.

"Of course I am Wheeler." She raised her arms up. "I am a Harrington after all."

Mike chuckled and opened his arms. Valerie stared at him confused. He sighs, "I want a hug so come here."

Valerie walked over and stood behind his legs as his arms go around her waist and his head rests against her chest.

"Are you sure your okay? Joyce said you helped draw these." Mike mumbled. Valerie chuckled a bit as she ran her hands through his hair.

"Mike stop worrying about me. I'm alright, serious." She leaned down and planted a soft kiss to his head. "But I do have to go."

This he looked up at her. "What why?"

"Overprotective brother and Dustin needs help tomorrow."

Mike nodded, standing to his feet but not letting his arms fall from around her. This time he planted this kiss to her forehead. Butterflies instantly filled her stomach.

"Be careful." He whispered before letting his arms fall.

"I will." She told him before heading towards the Byers front door. Will stopped her as she thrown her bag over her shoulder.

"Your leaving?"

"Gotta let Steve know I'm alright. I'll stop by tomorrow night." She walked over to him and gave him a hug. "I love you."

"I love you too." Will returned the hug before letting her leave.
