CHAPTER FOUR: THE BODY

the assembly the five kids sat at was extremely nerve wrecking. none of them wanting to attend but of course Mr Clark had caught them in the hallway and told them to. the worse part part of the whole thing, was Troy.

Troy and James were sitting a few people to the left of Valerie mocking the whole thing. it made her blood boil and some would say more then Mikes. however that didn't stop him from approaching Troy at the end.

"hey hey! hey troy!" he yelled, Troy turning around with the same smirk playing on his face as always.

Valerie didn't know what Mike was thinking but stood behind him with her arms folded and a proud smile on her face. "you.. you think this is funny?" mike questioned, his voice slightly cracking. the boys faces turning red in anger.

"what'd you say Wheeler?"

"i saw you guys laughing over there. and i think that's a real messed up thing to do." Mike explained, his voice getting louder and louder each time.

"didn't you hear the consular wheeler? grief shows itself in different ways," Troy said with a sarcastic smile while shifting his attention to Valerie who walked up beside Mike with her arms folded over her chest.

"Troy get your head out of your ass. Unless you don't want what happened the other day to happen again, i suggest you fuck off and keep your opinions in that fucked brain of yours." Valerie spoke in a tone that was intimidating for not only Mike, but also everyone else that stared.

"yeah yeah get over it. one of your boyfriends died. so what." troy barked back before turning and walking away.

Valerie stood in shock. he's never used that card before. it just made her blood boil more, however when she looked up Mike had taken matters into his own hands and shoved Troy so he fell face first. while he had shoved him, Valerie heard "don't talk about will or her like that."

Troy rose to his feet quickly and turned to Mike. Valerie glanced at Mike, but he didn't seemed to be as worried. he could take a punch. but when Troy charged at him, he stopped suddenly.

Troy had peed himself.

Valerie laughed just as everyone else was. she turned to see Eleven whipping her nose with a look that said 'yep. i did that.' Valerie mouthed "thank you."

she nodded and everyone in the group headed out of the gymnasium. they didn't have time to get caught and explain what had happened. Valerie walked back with Dustin, only because Mike was chatting with Eleven. Dustin was mocking Troys expressions, making Valerie laugh and completely forget about them ahead of her.

They all entered the AV room, Lucas taking guard by the door in case someone would have tried to walk in.

after the channeling started, Valerie looked around for anything that could keep her up on her feet. she has this tendency of passing out when things overwhelm her. that wasn't on her bucket list so she found Dustin in a corner and walked over to him. she wasn't aware of Mike staring at her as she held onto the curly haired boy. Dustin didn't seem to mind so she felt okay.

first it was the lights that went out.

then the voice. Will's voice.

it sounded like he screamed. Valerie didn't know if he was hurt or whether if it was a scared scream. ether way it made her tremble and hold onto Dustin more.

the group took turns trying to communicate with him by each yelling his name. Valerie barely being able to choke it out. that's how worried and scared she was. until suddenly everything blew up. the AV machine went up in flames, and Eleven fell backwards completely drained. her nose was bleeding and she couldn't keep herself up.

Valerie was to shaken up to move while the boys frantically tried to put out the fire. All that matter in her mind was Will.

will was alive.
