Y/n L/n, Welding Apprentice

Working for the Princess was tedious, to say the least, with Prince Larkny's words coming back to you. She had you carry anything from books to small stone statures she'd rearrange. With sore arms, you always brought her all her meals from the kitchen. Sent her messages to Fitz to send to the King, Queen, and other noble ladies. On the bright side, she didn't antagonize you as her brother did. You were simply the help, nothing more nothing less.

She stood facing a window in the corner of the hallway admiring the florals growing in the garden. "L/n, fetch me my coat, the one in my study. I wish to go see the gardener's new flowers" Princess Quinn said, as I nodded.

"I get paid soon, I get paid soon" I repeated to myself while walking back to the Princess. If Dusk could see me now I just know he'd have the time of his life teasing me.

I heard a man's voice as I approached the hall. "Stop it, I said no!" The Princess's upset voice alerted me. Dropping the ridiculously soft coat I ran towards them.

Grabbing the stranger's arm I roughly pull him away from the Princess. In confusion, he barely had time to react as I wiped my blade out. "Get away from us or I'll slit your throat, before you can try and fight back" I snared, pointing my dagger toward his collarbone. "Sh-She made advantages at me! Besides I'm a noblemen's son you can't harm me!" The man accused. Truly a pathetic man, trying to blame the Princess for his own action.

"With this knife I sure can try" I said, taking a menacing step toward him. He quickly fled as soon as the words left my mouth. Finally, I tucked my blade back into my belt. As soon as I turned around the Princess flung her arms around me. "He wouldn't leave me alone, I tried calling for help! But you were the only one that showed up" Princess Quinn admitted with a shaky voice.

Sympathy flooded my heart, as I wrapped my arms around her. I was very aware that I was touching royalty, the Princess of the Kingdom. But at this moment she was a mere scared girl. "It'll be okay my Lady, don't worry it'll be alright," I said.

Once again I stood in front of the royal family. Expect this time Fitz wasn't at my side and there were many more people present. "Y/n L/n, you defended my daughter from a courter astray, am I correct?" King Sora questioned. "Yes your Majesty, I pulled him away from her and he ran away" I said, poised as I could be. As I looked up at them I saw gratitude in the Queen and King's eyes. Though the biggest change would be the way the Princess was looking at me.

In fact, she was smiling in my direction, Prince Larkyn gave her a questioning look before meeting my gaze. For once he held a neutral look on his face when it came to me. Maybe he's getting bored and moving on as Sir Finn said.

"Father, surely this calls for some type of reward?" Princess Quinn asked. King Sora nodded in agreement. "Y/n I dissolve any punishment you've been assigned, and this as a token of our gratitude" He declared, as another servant handed me a pouch of what I assumed to be coins. "I thank your Grace, for the generosity" I said formally while bowing.
This is easily months of pay for scaring off some loser!

"Well done Y/n! I hear you're something of a hero now heh." Farren congratulated me when I entered our room. Chuckling I responded, "All I really did was shove some creep out of the way, Dion". The blue-eyed boy pressed me for more details "Can I see the blade you used, I hear it was a mighty sword" Farren teased.

"Wow, the rumor mill around here works fast" I jested back, pulling the dagger out. "I actually made this dagger in my village" I informed handing it to him. "Talented man I see" Farren noted, handing it back to me. I once again flopped into the bed, instantly regretting it. My chest had been bound by bandages for too long. I'll have to unwrap them once Farren falls asleep.

Resting on the back I wondered how the people in my village fared. My Father's condition, what Dusk and Evie were up to, what Sir Finn was working on. A dull sense of homesickness swept over me as I closed my eyes. I want to go home, I haven't been here long but I'm out. I have to be resilient like Sir Finn said, for my Father.
