Jealousy (A Sodapop Curtis Fanfiction)

Chapter 9

I drove for a while in Steve’s car but I knew where I was going. When me and Soda were little we had this one special place out in the country, where we set up a tree house. I knew only me and Soda knew about this place, but I hadn’t been to it in years. I finally arrived at the big open field that had a couple of trees up by an old barn.

I walked to the barn and looked inside there first, but then I climbed up the rickety old ladder that we had made so long ago, and sure enough there was Soda. He was sitting in a ball curled up in the corner.

“Soda” I said in a quite soft voice. 

“Anns,” Soda said, looking up at me. When I saw Soda I started balling my eyes out. Soda’s eyes were stained with tears, and they were all puffy and red. I quickly ran up to Soda and wrapped him in a hug. Soda quickly hugged me back and started crying into my shoulder.

“I’m sorry Soda, I know you loved Sandy” I said in a soft voice to Soda as I held him in a hug.

“It just hurts Anns, she just left without saying goodbye to my face.” Soda said in a muffled voice while still crying into my shoulder.

“How long have you been up here?” I asked Soda while looking him in the eyes.

“About 6 hours,” Soda said in a depressed voice.

“6 Hours!” I said in a shocked voice. Soda just kept crying into my arms, and so I held him as tight as I could.

“I think you should come home with me,” I said to Soda in a calm soft voice, while rubbing his hair.

“Okay” Soda said and I helped him off the ground.

Soda and I climbed down the ladder and I put my arm around him while walking to the car. We got into the car and I drove home. We talked about Sandy and stuff, but I mainly just listened to Soda talk. I felt so terrible for him, he loved Sandy and for her to not care about him at all like that, it was just wrong.

We got to the Curtis house and I helped Soda out of the car and inside. As soon as we got inside Darry, Steve, and Pony all ran up and hugged us.

“We thought you were gone,” Pony said while crying into Soda’s arms.

“We thought you ran away forever” Steve said while wrapping Soda in a big hug.

“Man you scared us kid brother,” Darry said while giving Soda a hug.

“I’m sorry guys, I didn’t mean to scare you,” Soda said while crying into my shoulder.

“It’s ok little buddy, we are just glad you’re home” Darry said while hugging all of us.

After that Soda went and laid down in his bed since he was just so overwhelmed and stressed out still.

“Hey Soda,” I said, knocking on Soda’s door.

“Come on in Anns,” Soda said so I opened the door.

“Hey I brought you your favorite, chocolate cake with chocolate milk.” I said with a smile.

“Aww thank you Anns,” Soda said while sitting up in his bed.

I then went and sat on the bed across from Soda and we just talked for a while.

“Hey thank you for coming and getting me earlier” Soda said while finishing up his chocolate milk.

“Oh your welcome, I was really worried about you.” I said while giving a warm smile to Soda.

“I’m sorry for making you worry” Soda said in a sorry voice while grabbing my hand.

“Hey don’t worry about-” But I was cut off by Soda grabbing the back of my head and kissing me.
