"Mujhe bhook lagi hai." Noor announced while reading her book.
"Hmm? Room service order krlo." Mairaaj replied unattentively as he typed away at his laptop.
Noor rolled away her eyes,"I dont know what I was thinking asking you for something." she grumbled as she got up and put the mufler around her neck.
"I'm going out." She announced thinking Mairaaj would just ignore her.
Instead, he looked up,"Kia? kiun."
"Kiunke mein Hazaron kilometer iss liye nhe safr kr ke ayi thi ke tumhare aalishaan hotel mein hi bethi rahun."
She mocked him and walked out the door.Mairaaj got up quickly throwing his boots and jacket on.
"Ruko, Noor!" he shouted over to her and she stopped .
"Oh ap ko fursat milgyi, khaana khane ki." Noor told him off.
Mairaaj laughed smugly,"You could have just told me you wanted to go on a dinner date."
Noor halted," Tumhe kabhi kisi ne btaya hai ke you have a very punchable face. To mujhe provoke mat karo."
Mairaaj threw his head back and laughed."Uff I'm so scared."
Noor ignored his teasings and walked ahead.
Soon they reached outside the hotel. The cold breeze blew relentlessly as Noor pulled her arms closer to herself and muttered,"Is it always this cold in Swat?"
"It is." Mairaaj replied.
They both sat into the car and Mairaaj started driving towards the nearest restaurant.
Noor looked out the car window as the once tall lush tress under the morning sun looked rather grim in the darkness of the night....
"Tum khamosh hi rehna pasand krti ho ya ye mera kamaal hai?" Mairaaj asked but regretted as soon as the words left his mouth. He had been relentlessly trying to make small talks with her. So much so for someone who had put a strictly on paper relationship contract infront of a woman days before her wedding.
Noor didn't seem to be fazed by his weird behaviour. Part of Mairaaj thanked her..
"Tumse shaadi hue ik maheena bhi nhe hua aur abhi se khud ko itna credit de rhe ho."
"Ye bhi sahi hai." Mairaaj chuckled
As they passed a dhaba, Noor screamed "ruko ruko!"
"Kahan?" Mairaaj said voicing out his surprise."I wanna eat here." she announced suddenly.
"Yahan?" Mairaaj said, surprise with a hint of disgust.
"Kia matlab, yes yahan." she replied defensively.
"But there's a really good restaraunt up ahead."
"Nhe, I wanna eat here." she said.
Mairaaj dejectedly parked the car and they both got out.
The cool breeze of a mid august night hit her face lightly as she scrunched up her slightly red nose.
"What do you want to eat?" he asked.
"Anything warm." she said as she proceeded to scrunch her nose.
Mairaaj laughed at her red nose as he walked over to order. While Noor sat herself down, she looked around.
The tiny lights from distant houses up on a faraway hill seemed to look like little dots in the dark.Suddenly, her peaceful venture soon came to an end when a noise erupted from within some corner of the dhaba.
Noor's head shot up towards the commotion and though she wanted to ignore it, she just couldn't-the doctor in her didn't allow her.
