"Thank you....... once again." Aliya said to kill the silence in the car.
"You don't have to thank me. I'm not a huge fan of these socialite parties either." he smiled.
"I know right. My parents used to throw these all the time when I was younger. It used to get so overwhelming, I would stay out of the house till like 1 am in the night until everybody was gone... the funfact was ke mere ami abu notice bhi nhe krte the ke un ki beti aadhi raat ko ghar vapis aayi hai." she said with a weak chuckle as she said the last part, clearly hurting even when she was smiling.
"I'm sorry that was too much information. Sorry." she laughed.
"Nhe its okay. You don't have to say sorry." Mahit told her, a genuine gleam in his eyes. Aliya couldn't keep her eyes off his shining face. She never noticed how handsome he looked when he smiled genuinely without any hint of arrogance on his face.
"Dinner?" he asked suddenly.
"Sure." she replied.
The driver dropped them off at an Italian restaraunt and took off.
They both got off and walked towards the place.
As they seated down and ordered their food, an awkward silence engullfed them again.
"So, tum free time mein kia karte ho?" Aliya asked suddenly.
Mahit laughed."Kuch khaas nhe bas apne ghar mein rest."
"I physically cannot believe you're that boring." she laughed.
"Acha? to phir tum kia krti ho apne free time mein?" he retorted laughing.
Aliya looked at him shaking her head, "Tumhe pata hai na ke mein dcotor hun. Doctors ke paas free time nhe hota." she laughed.
"Actually you know what. I know what I do in my free time. Mein apni dadi se milne jaati hun. Vo ik orphanage chalati hn. Mene apna ziada tar childhood unhi ke paas guzaara hai. Vahan pe kaafi bache aese the jo mere dost the. Ab vo bhi parh likh kr apne apne kaamon mein masroof hain. Kabhi kabhar reunion ho jata hai to acha lagta hai." she smiled genuinely as she went on and on about stories from the orphanage while Maahit listened to her with full concentration.
The waiter finally served their foods infront of them and went away with a quick nod.
"Tum kuch bol kiun nhe rhe?" she asked suddenly when the waiter left.
"kiunke tumhari baaton mein nasha hi aesa hai. Dil karta hai ke bas khamoshi se sunta rahun." Maahit said so nonchalantly that Aliya felt herself choking on the bland pasta infront of her.
She laughed awkwardly gulping a huge lump of food. "Why is this pasta so bland?" she asked.
She picked up a glass bottle what appeared to be a pepper shaker and started putting it in her food vigourously to escape the emberresment. She then threw on some salt and started eating her food.
Maahit laughed at her antics and respected her decision to remain quiet as they both ate their food silently.
After a few minutes, Maahit noticed how Aliya simply played with her food as her head started ducking towards the plate. She was bending towards the plate as if she was going to smash her face into it.
"Aliya?" Maahit asked out of concern.
Suddenly, Aliya's head shot up and she started blinking her eyes as if she was trying to get her vision.
"Oh my god!" she screamed.
Maahit's gaze widened in concern,"Kia hua?"
"stars!! vo dekho taare chamak rhe hn."
Aaliya shrieked in excitement and started clapping her hands.
"Oh my god? Tum yahan kia kr rhe ho?" she suddenly said when her eyes landed on Maahit.
Maahit was blinking like crazy to decipher the situation.
"You didn't drink anything weird, did you?"
"Shut up! Hot dude in a glasses. Let me read." she said, her words wobbly while she tried to read the writing on the napkin.
"Aaliya?" he said again, now beimg legitimitely concerned.
"Mne kaha na chupppppp." she said again putting her finger to his lips and shushing him.
Maahit felt heat rise to his face. He called for the waiter.
"What did you feed her?" he asked the waiter.
"I'm sorry sire, I dont quite understand." the waiter replied.
Maahit touched the rim of his galsses in fraustration," Why is she suddenly drunk by having just a few bites of this thing."
The waiter bent and tried to pick the dish out of the table but Aaliya spoke up," Hey! thats mine. Get your own. Tell him, pretty boy. This is my pasta."Aaliya said while adressing Maahit.
The waiter pulled the plate up and tried to smell it. Just one smell and his face changed completely,"Oh my god, Sir. We are so sorry."
He said and picked up the plate and the salt and pepper shakers from the table.
"What, why?" Maahit said in a hurry.
"This pepper shaker contains Nutmeg. We might have accidently given you the wrong shaker. I am so sorry. Please let me call my manager."
Maahit was beyond surprised," Nut meg! Do you know dangerous that stuff is. Why do you have nut meg in a shaker."
The apologetic waiter ran back while Aaliya was getting up, dragging her wobbly feet towards another table.
Before she could wreck havoc, Maahit ran over and tried to stop her while muttering a silent sorry to everybody.
He quickly put the check on the table and took off behind Aliya who was now getting out of the place on her own while she seemd like she could'nt even carry her own body weight.
"Aaliya!" Maahit called but she was so out of it that she didnt even notice.
"Mera peecha kr rhe ho tum? she asked suddenly
"Aaliya, its me Maahit. You can't go around walking alone like that." he said trying to get a hold of her.
"Mei tumhare six pack pe autograph nhe doongi iss liye jao yahan se. Aajate hn fans har jagah." she said wobblily and started walking again.
Maahit was unable to contain his laughter as he tried not to smile.
"Kon tum se six pack pe auto graph mangta rha hai." he whispered to himself as he ran behind her supporting her unteady figure.
"Bekarar kar ke hume yun na jaiye-" she stopped halfway through the song.
"Aage kia aata hai?" she suddenly asked Maahit was way too flustered to understand the situation. This too was his first time dealing with someone intoxicated.
Suddenly, Aaliya started crying. Big big tears kept falling out of her fox like eyes. Surprised, Maahit asked," Kia hua Aaliya?"
"Muj-Mujhe aage lyr-lyric nhe aa rha." She cried loudly. By now people had started looking at them thinking Maahit had caused the young girl to cry.
He smiled awkwardly at the people as he sat her down on a nearby bench.
He sat on the floor right infront of her tying her heel as he sang in the lowest voice possible," Ap ko hamari kasam lot aayie
Aliya suddenly ducked her head towards him, smiling at him enthusiastically.
"Tumhe ye gana aata hai." her face was
just inches away from his and though she might not know the influence she had on him but he knew and so did his heart as it seemed like it would burst out of his chest with the intensity it was beating.
Maahit contemplated whether or not he should do what he was about to but he gave in slowly raising his hand to pushed the stray strands of her fiery red locks behind her ear.
She smiled and Maahit felt like he could no longer look into her eyes as he reciprocated her smile.
But suddenly her head fell down, and dropped right on his shoulder.
At first Maahit panicked thinking she had passed out but her soft snores assured her that she was just fast asleep.
He layed her down on the bench while he called his driver to pick them up.

The sound of heels ticking could be heard all through the empty hallway. Noor strudded through the long abyss.
Watching him follow her, she knew she succeeded. He was willing to give her a chance if he was following her even through the darkness struck hallway they had never been to before.
She opened a random large wooden door, its hinges cold to touch but the coldness of the door was nothing compared to shivers that made Mairaaj's touch run down her back.
She opened it all the way and walked inside hoping to find it empty, and she did.
A large antique library awaited her behind the mysterious door, dimly lit with just candles. In the dimness of the night, she could make up figures of what appeared to be book shelves lathered with books of all kinds.
Behind her, she could hear door open again and in walked Mairaaj, looking around intently as if he was making his eyes get used to the dim light.
Suddenly, he poumced upon her like a hungry predator, holding her dainty frame between the cage of his large arms, her back slammed to the door, his frame leaning dangerously close to hers, his eyes hardened and his jaw clenched as he looked at her with burning intensity," Kia jaado kia hai tum ne Dilainoor." he said, for the first time pronouncing her full name and Noor felt her breath hitch. Even though he had complete control over her and she could not have moved even centimeter from his grasp, still she stirred trying to break free.
"Mairaaj." she breathed and Mairaaj had to shut his eyes close trying to drown himself in the intoxication, her voice gave him.
"Chup." he told her for he knew he can't handle her voice. How was he supposed to hate her, be mad at her if her mere voice had this much influnece on him.
She had to stay quiet.........
"I had no other choice but to hide-" she tried again but he crashed his mouth onto hers taking her in. Succumbing to his addicting taste, she gave in. But as she was the taste of his lips got more and more intoxicating, he pulled back, leaving Noor wanting for more
but he had a dark look in his eyes.
"Go" he ordered and Noor could not believe this man was her husband.
She pullled on his elbow as he tried to leave, "Please just listen to me once."
"I said, Go Noor. I don't want to listen to anything that comes out of your mouth. It just reminds me that you're his daughter." as much as he hated the words that came out of his mouth, he needed her to leave or else his hate for Moeen would lose to his love for Noor.
and he had to keep the rage alive to kill him.
Noor slowly let go of his elbow as she heard his words, a chuckle left her throat as hot tears started falling down her cheeks.
Listening to her suddenly laughing,Mairaaj looked back, a perplexing expression on his face.
"His daughter, kis ki..... Moeen Ali Khan ki?" she contemplated hard on whether she should really do what she was about to.
Hot tears continued to fall but her hands did not stop as she undid the clip on her cape. She turned and the cape fell off revealing her back. Even in the dimly lit room, one could see clearly the burns and scars and cuts her body had endured.
Her back was a canvas to all sorts of torture. Some old some new.
She turned back towards him, his face had no expression but Noor could tell he was enraged with the way his chest heaved with ragged breaths.
"Btao, konsa baap apni beti ke saath aesa krta hai. Usse apne kamon ke liye ik torture machine banane ke liye usse bhooke kutton ke aage daal deta hai, agr koi galti ho jaye to belt se marta hai usse jungle mei akela chor deta hai, kai kai din usse bhooka ik andhere kamre me band kr deta hai. Kehta hai agr tum ne meri na maani to mei tumhare bhai ko maar doon ga. Btao kia konsa baap aesa krta hai."
A stream of tears fell down her eyes like an entire river had opened but Mairaaj was quiet. What would he even say.
His silence was more piercing that his words. Noor could no longer take it. she picked up her cape and tried to pass him to reach the door, Mairaaj caught her hand.
He pulled her back and embraced her like there was no tomorrow.
For the first time in his life, he felt something tickling his eye. It was tears
"I'll kill him. I promise you, I'll kill him." he said to her.
Noor nodded as she looked at his face and touched his tear stained cheek.
Mairaaj had no other words. He looked at his wife with so much more admiration and love for her.
"I'm sorry. I never wanted to show you something so hideous,-"
"Its not hideous. No part of you could ever be hideous Noor, you're beautiful inside out. " he stopped her.
" I'm sorry." she kept apologising but Mairaaj held her face between both his hands.
"No my love, Maafi to ab vo mange ga but usse mile gi nhe. Not even as he would take his final breaths." he gritted his teeth.
"Aise nhe Mairaaj, pehle we have to make all his hideous deeds come out. sukoon ki mot vo marna deserve nhe krta. Not after what he did to my family."■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
