Shoe? - Dean Thomas

"I can't fucking believe this," Seamus groaned, hoisting his pillow higher under his arm.

"Weasley has a nightmare and we're all forced to sleep in the Great Hall? This is fucking Hogwarts! Safest place in Britain!" he complained, scowling.

"Seamus, its not that bad," I said, struggling with my sleeping bag but putting a hand on his shoulder.

"At least they're not dividing by gender. Boys and girls can sleep together," I added, wiggling my eyebrows.

He brightened.

"Maybe I'll get a spot next to Lavender Brown!" he whispered, eyes darting around mischievously.

"You goof. Go catch up!" I said, pointing ahead to where Lavender and Parvati were talking and whispering together.

"Catch you later," he said, and hurried up.

I chuckled, shaking my head. Seamus was your classic horny teenager. Also happened to be my best friend. I wouldn't change him for all the Galleons in the world, even if he could be a bit gross sometimes.

I sighed a bit as other students passed me by, bumping into me.

The one thing I wished about Seamus is that he tried harder to stay close to Dean. Seamus had gone all girl crazy in second year- Dean (while admitting to having a small crush on Ginny Weasley) was not necessarily girl crazy.

Seamus had sort of drifted away, always sitting with another girl during mealtimes, and preferring to go out to Hogsmeade than stay and play Wizard's chess with me and Dean in the common room.

I missed our time all together.

"Hey, Y/l/n!" said a deep voice, startling me.

"Sorry," Dean panted, catching up and throwing an arm around my shoulder.

He smelled good... like Old Spice, a Muggle deoderant he chose to wear.

"I didn't mean to scare you, I just need you for a sec," he said, still breathing heavily.

My mind instantly went to the dirtiest place possible, and I blushed.

"What's up? We're kinda supposed to be..." I mimicked walking with my fingers.

"Yeah, yeah, I know," he chuckled, "But I lost my shoe in the common room and I need you to help me find it,"

"Ummm, ok... I'll help I guess... but what are we going to do if someone catches us?"

"It's whatever. It'll be fine. I'm sure we're not the only kids using this as an opportunity," he winked.

Oh my God. Was I actually picking up on the correct signals for once? Did Dean like me?

I followed him back to the Gryffindor common room, thoughts racing.

Dean shut the porthole behind us, and sighed.

"Alright, let's get searching for this shoe!" I said, trying to be enthusiastic.

"Okay. So, I didn't lose my shoe," he started, taking a step towards me.

"Okay... so you lured me back here to get into my pants?" I smirked, chuckling.

He laughed. "No... well yes-"

I made a face, and took a step back.

"Shit, no, Y/n, I'm sorry. Hear me out please."

I gave him a look, but signalled for him to continue.
