We arrived at the Minivan and as the usual I take the front with Reggie. I don't trust him driving by himself because the one time he came driving to my house, he crashed his minivan, and he even lives across. Makes me wonder why he even needs his minivan to drive to my place. As I was about to enter, someone pushes me out of the way. "Move it, I call shotgun!" Mick yells after he moves me out the way by swinging his hip, hitting my side.
"Motherfucker, no you don't!" I was about to attack him until Derek pulled me back, picking me up from the ground while he raises me up high.
"Both of you sit in the back. Randy, take the passenger seat."
Randy nods as he sits down after he was told to do so.
"Derek, you can put them down now. I think they stopped." He puts me down after Sid politely commands. After I was put down, I grab Mick by his sleeve as I drag him to the backseat.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Dragging your whole hell with mine."
"I don't deserve to sit in the back."
"Your fault for pushing me."
"As if it's my fault that I started it, which is very true but I'm going to pretend it's not to piss you off more than I already had."
"That long sentence of yours already is." I give him a smile and pulling him back to sit down. I spot Reggie at the mirror as he's ready to speak. "Say a dirty joke and you'll regret it."
"You know I won't."
"Just shut up and drive," I laugh while he starts the engine.
The drive was a little long. Randy and Reg were talking about their own interests while music was playing from the radio, Hallie, Sid, and Derek all had a group conversation. As for Mick and I, we just looked at the view. My head rested on the side as I see buildings while we pass by each segment of them. I got lost in my thoughts that I didn't feel Mickey's head on my shoulder until he spoke.
"It's a nice view, isn't it?" His voice sounded soft unlike his casual tone. "Yeah, it is." He moved closer, closing the tiny amount of space between us. For the first time, I didn't even mind at all. I eventually let Mickey rest his head on my shoulder while we stare at the view. You would probably think about the camera and that it's probably forgotten, haven't you? It's actually on my right grip.
All of a sudden I heard slight snoring. Turning to my right results Mick falling asleep a second after. We were only driving for ten minutes, almost leaving town. Reggie suggested taking us to a cafe he went before arriving to college.
I fiddled around with Mickey's camera and grew a little curious to see what he filmed during our experience. 'I think a small peep wouldn't hurt' I shrugged with a 'fair enough' look plastered across my face as I slowly opened the camera to see. The volume was already on mute to begin with, so I didn't need to turn it back down. From what I saw were videos of every one of us having our time together as a group. There was one where we were at a party, one where Derek and Sid were going out together, one with Reggie being drunk as Hallie had to carry him back into his Minivan, and another was one with only Mick and I.
I click on the video to see out of curiosity while turning up the volume a tiny bit.
"N/n smile for the camera!"
There am I sitting down on my desk while I wrote on my journal. Lens zoom in to show what I have been writing which is actually a short story.
"What is that? A romantic short story?"
"Mick, leave me alone!"
"My god, I didn't know you were the romantic type this whole time." The camera focuses on him, revealing him with a smile until a book was thrown at him, ending the video. I quietly laugh as I remember that moment. Mickey may be a bother, but I really like the guy, a lot. Just platonically at this point. I mean who knows when I could have a love interest at this time? Probably, Reggie. He's been trying to be the cupid for me since my first year in high school. He was actually a sophomore as I came, but sadly got held back resulting the two of us being in the same year together.
"What are you doing looking at my camera?"
My soul left my body for a bit after hearing Mickey's voice. Slowly turning my head, I spot him perking his head up to me while he has on a soft smile. "Just looking at some videos you filmed."
"I'm guessing you saw that one clip where you threw a book at me didn't you?" As I nod, he releases a breathy voice. "Figured." Mick shifts are to feel a little more comfortable, his back hitting the side of the Minivan, an arm around my shoulder to pull me closer to him. Randy was never kidding when he Mick became touchy during these four months. I don't really mind at all, it's only when he leans his whole body on my back as of he wanted a back ride or something.
Besides, somehow I just feel safe when he's near. Hey may know that I really do enjoy his company.
My thoughts shut down when I felt something warm on the crook of my neck only to see Mick...sleeping? 'Man, he really is tired.' I pat his head and continue to fiddle with his video camera around gently. "I still didn't know you were the type for romance novels." I smack the side of his head to shut him up. "Shut up and sleep."
"So does that mean you do have a type for that genre?"
"If I say yes, then will you shut up?"
"Nope," He chuckles and soon fell asleep. "What a guy." I laugh along before I zoned out with my head touching his.
