Chapter 17: It Has Begun

Rani felt another shake of the ground. She looked up and saw a pillar emerge from the ground, with Kion on it.

Then she heard a roar. Rani turned her gaze, and saw her brother. Her eyes widened, "Baliyo!"

"Rani we need to get the Tree Of Life animals. Kion has turned your brother against us, and we don't have much time before they destroy the kingdom!" Nirmala explained urgently.

Rani took one last look at her brother as he caused earthquakes and made sharp rocks appear from the ground. She looked back up at Kion, "Alright let's go." Nirmala and Rani ran to get as many animals who agreed to fight as they could.

Ananda and Sahasi had no where to go now. The fire was just inches away from them. Ananda coughed uncontrollably. "Stay low to the ground," Sahasi said through coughs.

Ananda started to get light-headed. "Put your muzzle into my fur!" Sahasi said firmly, "I can't let you die."

Sahasi layed down infront of Ananda. Ananda put her muzzle into his fur. It was a bit hard to breathe, but she didn't have to breathe in smoke and ash.

The flames slowly got closer to them. Sahasi wouldn't stop coughing. He tried to cover his muzzle with his paw, but the air was thick with smoke.

"Sahasi you're going to die!" Ananda shouted. He coughed again, "I'm fine as long as you're safe." "No! You put your muzzle into my fur! I can't lose you!" Ananda ordered.

Sahasi put his muzzle into her fur, thankful for being able to breathe in cleaner air.

"We'll be ok," Ananda said uncertainly.

Surak ran into the flames after his brother, "Sahasi!" Surak roared in pain as a spark landed on his fur. He tried to see through the ash, but it was impossible, "Brother! Ananda!"

Surak started to get weak. He kept running, desperately looking for the tree. As he was running, a branch from the Tree Of Life fell down infront of him. Flames burned into the air.

He gasped and turned around, but again was blocked by the fire. He looked around everywhere, but there was no escape. Surak was stuck in a ring of fire.

"Can we go now Kion!" Baliyo growled. "Not yet!" Kion roared, "We need everyone here." Baliyo clawed at the ground in annoyance.

Kion jumped down from the rock pillar. He glared at Baliyo. Baliyo growled quietly at him.

Kion roared and lighting shot out of the sky. The bolt hit Baliyo. Baliyo collapsed to the ground. "Get up," Kion snarled. Baliyo groaned and stood up.

Baliyo looked at his paws. Small lightning bolts were sparking from under his paws.

"I've given you super speed. Use this to your advantage," Kion growled. Baliyo smirked evilly.

Kion roared and lifted one of the sharp rocks Baliyo created. He smashed the rock into the pillar, and the pillar collapsed.

Baliyo took off at lightning speed. Bolts sparked the ground as he ran.

Baliyo stopped when he got close to the fire, and ran back.

"Stop playing around!" Kion growled. "Save your energy for the war!" Baliyo nodded.

Kion roared at his right forearm. Baliyo looked at him confused.

"Want to see true strength," Kion smirked. Baliyo roared yes. Kion used his roar on the ground, and another rock pillar emerged from the ground. Kion used the paw he roared and and slashed at the rock.

Kion backed up. Baliyo stared at the rock confused, but then, bits and pieces of it collapsed. Baliyo laughed evilly, "We are unstoppable!"

Kion smirked. He roared at the sky, and lighting shot down on him. He stepped out of the dust.

Kion's bottom legs burned with flames, but it was not painful to him. His tail tuft was a fire as well. Kion roared again, and flames came out of his mouth.

Kion smirked evilly.

Rani and Nirmala had gathered all of the animals. "Ok, let's fight," Rani said firmly.

The Tree Of Life animals walked toward Kion and Baliyo, Rani at the lead.

"They are here," Kion growled. He and Baliyo stood side by side.

Rani gasped when she saw her brother. Markings and scratches covered his body. She looked at his paws and saw small lightning bolts sparking. She turned her gaze to Kion. Her eyes widened.

Kion had fire burning at the bottoms of his legs, and had fire as his tail tuft.

Rani approached them uncertainly. Kion growled and walked up to her.

"Kion what has happened to you!" Rani said through tears. Kion slashed his claws at her, and she was flung to the side with brutal force.

"WAR!" Baliyo roared. He ran into the army of animals at lightning speed.

"Finally, the war has begun," Kion smirked.
