That night, no matter how many times Ben turned over in bed, he could not sleep. He couldn't help but imagine Luna dead somewhere, dismembered, and it was unbearable. The pain that gripped his heart at that moment was unbelievably sharp, he felt as if he was missing a part of himself. He even found himself begging any deity to keep her alive.
Suddenly he received a phone call. The phone number was blocked, but the time caught his attention. Two forty-five a.m. That was the time Luna had called the night before. It couldn't be possible, it was probably a sign from her.
Panic-stricken, he picked up the phone."Hello?"
"Professor Harvey..."
Hearing Rosalind's icy voice on the other end of the line, Ben froze. He had expected anything but a call from her, and that was a bad sign. He had to keep his cool.
"What do you want from me, Rosalind?" he asked in the same detached tone.
He heard her chuckle, apparently amused by his reaction.
"I know that our dear Farah is alive, and, since you know where she is, you will tell me the truth," she retorted, sarcastically.
The botany teacher clenched his fists. She knew, and she had probably hurt Luna. However, there was no way he was going to tell her anything and betray his friend.
"Or else what?"
His enemy didn't answer, and he finally made out plaintive groans in the silence. He gagged when he recognized the poor woman's crying voice. Luna. It was her. If she was groaning like that, it meant that Rosalind had tortured her to get the truth out of her, and that someone had watched them during their conversation. He remained silent for a moment. Poor Luna. He already knew what was coming if he didn't cooperate. Luna would suffer, she might die, and they would never love each other. What was he to do?
"You can hear her, can't you?" she questioned, evil, holding her phone out to the ill-fated woman.
He huffed, trembling at the thought of what this bitch was doing to her. He had no desire to respond to her provocations, but she continued to try to pull the wool over his eyes.
"You don't want her to continue suffering, do you? It's inhumane, and I know you'll make the right choice, Ben."
"You're the one who's inhumane, Rosalind, leave her alone," he replied harshly. "Don't forget that Luna is the Queen of Solaria."
The mind fairy laughed, a scornful, mocking laugh.
"A very weak Queen, unable to defend herself, who is alone and nothing without her security guards...pathetic."
At that moment, Professor Harvey's blood ran cold. How dare she denigrate her in this way!
"I advise you to stop talking bad about Luna, because you haven't won yet!" he roared, beside himself. "I swear, if you hurt her, I'll make you pay, and I'm not the only one, because your students are not on your side, certainly not Bloom, whom you manipulated into freeing you!"
He immediately regretted his outburst, for he knew that his enemy would not fail to take revenge on poor Luna. He had lost his temper because he couldn't stand that she could disrespect her and treat her like a floorcloth.
As he had predicted, in response to his anger, she inflicted unbearable pain in Stella's mother's bones, before lingering on her stomach and viscera.
The poor fairy screamed, writhing, and Ben, who couldn't see what was really going on, tried to think of a way to get her out of there without endangering his friends."If you tell me where Farah is, I'll leave your little darling alone," she muttered curtly. "I'm not telling you what condition she's in right now, but it's not a pretty sight, so you'd better hurry if you want to see her alive again."
The professor's face crumbled. He was trapped, and hearing Luna in pain, her screams of pain, was just terrible. He couldn't help but wonder if Rose had suffered as much when she was murdered. Maybe not, because she hadn't been tortured the way Luna had been by that freak. History would repeat itself, she too would succumb to her wounds, die murdered, and he couldn't let that happen.
"Okay, I'll tell you everything..."
He bit his lip, knowing he was about to betray his best friends. But they had a chance of getting away with it, Luna had none.
"Very well, that's a wise decision," the blonde fairy agreed. "But be careful, if you try to trick me, I'll kill your girlfriend."
Suddenly, the faint voice of the light fairy could be heard in the distance.
"Don't tell her, Ben, please, we can't have done all this for nothing, Farah didn't deserve this."
To shut her up, Rosalind cast a spell on her brain so that she lost her speech ability for several minutes. But Ben couldn't listen to her, he couldn't leave Luna there in that condition, he couldn't lose her. So, reluctantly, he decided to speak, heartbroken by this betrayal. Indeed, Farah didn't deserve this, but Luna didn't deserve to die there without having a chance to get out.
"She's staying at one of Luna's properties, the one in the woods," he revealed in a breath. "Please release Luna."
She clicked her tongue twice in refusal.
"Not now, I have to check for myself that you're not screwing with me first."
He wanted to protest but she hung up without a word. Now that she had what she wanted, he wasn't sure of anything, not even the fact that she was going to release the Queen. Lying in bed, he stared at the ceiling, a tear streaming from his eye. He could not warn Farah of Rosalind's arrival, or he would seal the doom of the woman he loved. Tonight, he was bitterly regretting not having got to the end of their kiss two days earlier. He might never kiss her again.
