you cried the whole night. even if he never had been around in your life, he well, was there somehow. plus, he was your father. when morning came, your mother said,"i heard you sobbing, (y/n)."
"oh, you reply, feeling kind of ashamed for crying loudly. you probably woke everyone in your neighborhood up. "hey, it's okay, i cried too, (m/n) admitted. you looked surprised. "really?" "mhm, she replies. "i mean, we were married for some time. i don't know if i could really live without him, honey."
"you have been since he began being distant, you remind her. she shrugs. "you're right, sweetie." you smile, being told you were right did boost your confidence, even if it did seem selfish, considering your circumstances.
"well, i'm going for work, your mother smiled, kissing your forehead. "be good, okay? " you nodded. you didn't plan on misbehaving.
grace? maybe. but she didn't misbehave ever either. you both were good kids. more often than not your mother had to work late since your deadbeat father had never been around.
and now that he was officially gone, you'd have to take care of your younger sister more than you should be. it seemed like it'd be tiring but you were used to it, and you didn't mind taking care of her either.
grace came in your room, she looked confused more than anything, which you understood. you were kind of confused, too. why would your father leave behind his children and wife who he had been married to for years? sure, he found someone new, but you couldn't accept he left because of some new woman.
"is mommy okay? grace asked. you nodded. "she's fine, don't worry." grace nodded."well, can you play with me? i'm bored, my friends are gone for the summer."
"sure, you reply. "what do you want to play?" "i'll show you! she giggled, dragging you to her room. you probably would fall asleep so quickly after playing with your sister, like every night.
timeskip
and you were right of course. you had grown so tired after playing with her but it was worth it honestly. you would've been outside playing if you didn't have to watch your sister. she could go outside, but you would have to have eyes on her and so, you wouldn't enjoy yourself.
sometimes, you did like breaks. but right now, your mom trusted you, so you couldn't let her down. you never had before, and never planned to ever. you only ever did in your nightmares. you shiver thinking about it.
you plopped down on your bed, hoping soon, you could hang with your friends, well, new friends. you didn't mind avoiding the bowers gang much. since (m/n) would probobly be working later than normal, you would probobly cook dinner.
lucky you knew how to cook otherwise you'd burn your house down and you certainly didn't want that to happen.
grace was busying herself just fine on her own. though she probably wished she had a younger sibling to play with. there was a bigger age gap between the two of you. you smile, seeing her play. you remembered when you were her age.
though you still were quite young, you weren't like how you used to be. happy, carefree, naïve on how the world really was, especially derry. when georgie denbrough wen missing, things were really different.
but somehow, grace remained happy, she didn't know, and you made sure of it. you turn your head so she didn't know you had been secretly watching her happily play. kind of creepy, but you were just admiring how happy and bright grace was.
later in that day it was time for you to make dinner. because as predicted, your mother hadn't gotten home from work yet.
you didn't mind, since you didn't have any hopes on her coming home early or anything. you began cooking when your little sister came in the kitchen.
"what's for dinner? she asked, grinning. you grin. "spaghetti." "spaghetti is good! she exclaimed. then she giggled then went back to her room.
little kids, you thought while chuckling as you continue cooking dinner. they grew excited over small things. you hummed while you were becoming closer to finishing cooking dinner. now, you no longer worried about your father.
maybe, him leaving was good after all.
you soon finished cooking then announced,"dinner!" you heard grace reply,"coming!" you place plates and silverware on the table then the dinner. you knew grace was starving since she'd looked excited when you mentioned spaghetti.
"yum! she said happily."i was really hungry!" you laughed."i know." you truly did know as you put some spaghetti on her plate and on yours.
"how was your day? you smile. "nice, it was better when you played with me, she said. "aww, I enjoyed playing with you too, you smile, as you place spaghetti in your mouth.
you'd admit you were hungry too. your day had been stressful especially about your mother. who didn't seem happy her no good husband was gone.
in truth, your father was physically there but never there. a distant father that was what he was. you doubted that he even wanted kids to begin with.
sometimes he'd eat at the dinner table but never said anything about his day or asked about either you or grace's day. it made you angry. and it made you even more pissed that he was happier somewhere else.
you sigh, you shouldn't even think about your sperm donor, you were enjoying your dinner. you finished dinner, putting your plate in the dishwasher. grace did the same. "yummy dinner, sissy! grace said, hugging you.
you smiled. "no prob, sis. you know, i like cooking for you. so, i probably will for some time." she exclaimed, "i'm really glad!" you laughed seeing her run upstairs. you yawn. "and as for me i probably should get more rest tonight."
you didn't remember when you got good sleep last. maybe when you were younger, less responsibilities. of course, you probobly should have less responsibilities right now wifh your age. but, you were growing up. this would've happened eventually.
you go in your room and slowly fall asleep.
