I'm not a girl
who needs rescuing—
I'm a woman with a flaming sword
made up of everything
I've ever conquered,
and the self-belief I've restored
from the wreckage you
left behind you—
the rubble that was me—
and when I learnt to live without you,
I became the person I could beyet although I advocate solitude,
and can do this on my own,
there are times I reflect on life
and wonder why I'm alone,
for I'm not a girl
who needs rescuing,
but just for once,
I'd like to be a woman
who is adored.
