Alecto's POV

21st August 2256

"Come on!" I narrow my eyes to the group of teenager across the street. He was running after another kid, who seemed to be scared of the group. I secure my hood over my hair and watch closely.

Keeping my feet light, I follow after the group. Cornering him into a corner, two of the boys grab each of his arms.

"Come in Hana, teach this bastard a lesson!" The girl in question stepped forward lightly. While the boys holding his arms seemed ready to attack, the girl hesitated. "Come on Hana, show him his place."

Not wanting the situation to escalate, I let my presence known.

"What do you think you're doing?" The group turns to me as the two boys holding his arms glare at me.

"This isn't your problem, back off!" The girl seems to think otherwise as she tries to pry off his grip on the boy.

"Leave him alone kid." He turns his attention back on me. Letting out a grunt, he pushes the kid to the ground.

"And what are you gonna do about it?" I lean down slightly to match his short stature.

"I don't care if your a kid." I glare into his eyes. "You'd be surprised at the lengths i'd go to, to protect someone." He clicks his tongue as he back down.

"Come on everyone. The little Daichi isn't worth it." The group starts filtering out, leaving only myself, Hana, and the boy.

I take slow steps towards them, watching carefully as the girl seems to look over any Injuries this 'Daichi' might have.

"Let me guess, they're bullies." Hana's eyes look up at me cautiously. "Don't worry, I used to be bullied as well. I won't say a word unless you ask for me to." A soft smile rests on my face as I kneel down next to the boy, making sure they didn't hurt him too bad.

"Yeah, they're bullies." She sighs in annoyance. "Daichi is quirkless." I let out a hum as I continue to look over him.

"Let me guess, they want you to join because you have a strong quirk." She looks at me strangely at my guess.

"Yeah, how did you know?" I let out a chuckle.

"My line of work requires me to think like a detective." Daichi finally speaks up, slightly confused.

"Wait, don't you care that I'm quirkless?" I smirk slightly as he asks me.

"I've had plenty of experience to know that the quirk doesn't make the person. Being quirkless doesn't make you any different than anyone else, kid." His lips curve up into a bright smile at my answer. "So how old are you kids? Shouldn't you be in school?" Now it was my turn to be confused.

"Take a guess, you said it yourself, you need to think like a detective for work." I let out another chuckle as Daichi turns to scold Hana.

"Hana!" He flicks her forehead at her comment. "We're 14." My chuckle turns into a laugh at their interaction.

"It's alright kid." Daichi turns back to me as I think of possible answers. Looking them over, they have school clothing on, same with the bullies, no sign of bags. "Parent evening?" Daichi lets out a nod at my answer.

"Yeah." Hana looks impressed at my answer. "You're pretty good." I tip an imaginary hat at her compliment.

"Thank you." I stand tall and help bring them both to there feet. "Well, it's your lucky day kid. Seems you'll only be going home with a couple bruises today. Just remember to put some ice on them and you'll be fine." He gives me a bright smile in response.
