The whole way to the mansion, I was a nervous ball of nerves. I couldn't keep my mind from wondering if they were still angry, would they hate me for what I said?
I tried to control my anxious heart by fumbling with the hair tie on my wrist, taking deep breaths, and all the calming tips I just searched up.
They lied. This is not relaxing at all.
I nervously shuffled in the seat with Ethan, my lips dipped in a frown.
And before I knew it, we were pulling up to the Lan Residence. And it was breathtaking and overwhelmingly nostalgic.
The Lan Ying mansion was a sight to behold, it stood there embraced by the warm arms of nature, my father had specially architected this piece since my mother loved nature so much. The icy white coated walls shone like diamonds, and the bright ceiling-to-floor windows imitated the sky's feelings and emotions. The mansion was modern and beautiful, beautiful landscape and scenery could be seen from the clear glass balconies with a cemented base.
A vibrant yet comforting contours of white, natural green, and black. The primary colors complemented each other, creating a balance of precision and relaxation.
Just like mother and father.
A house so familiar yet nostalgic. My throat tightened as the memories flooded back. Every happy and sad memory was engraved in every floor and landscape, some tearful and some comforting. The familiar scenery felt welcoming as if I had finally found home after years of wondering.
A large hand tenderly caressed my knuckles, I slid my eyes from the hand holding mine to the man beside me. Ethan had a small smile .it felt light and reassuring.
I felt my heart relax, I returned a bigger smile. My heart stopped galloping, now I anticipated the moment when I would finally meet my parents. I was determined, this was an essential part of my metamorphosis.
My heart swelled with gratitude, and I murmured a silent 'thank you', watching the car move along with the white stoned driveway until the car parked in the front yard.
I held my breath and counted the seconds. I can do this, I told myself as I slowly walked up the 5 steps to the mansion's front door.
A bodyguard came and knocked on the solid redwood double doors, instantly the doors were open revealing a beautiful interior living room.
Two servants greeted us, I recognized one of them to be Barreto, the family butler.
He stood straight, one hand forward and the other secured behind him. He stood proudly, his face neutral and serious. I silently chuckled. He didn't change at all.
My eyes moved to the small female next to him, mirroring his stance and expression. I did not recognize her.
"Young Master Alions, greetings to you." Barreto greeted politely, bowing slightly. He looked at me but there was no recognition in his eyes.
"And greetings to you, Ms..." He trailed off, not knowing who I was. I nearly scoffed.
I smiled warmly at him, with a hint of mischief. "Uncle Barret, you don't recognize me? Oh no, have I gotten that old?" I said, horrified.
He didn't react at first but suddenly he coughed and gapped wide-eyed at me.
"Young mistress Akira?" He said in disbelief, that made me feel guilty.
