I love you more than I originally planned to.

A k I r a

At an upscale evening party, the air is thick with the scents of expensive perfumes and anticipation. The room, however, was drowned in a vibrating tension.

I faced Ethan, who couldn't even look at me in the eye, I eyed his hand palming his neck. A sign I knew was that he was anxious. I narrowed my eyes harder, I think he could feel my glare worsen.

"Well, any day now." I crossed my arms across my chest, taking a firm stance. He opened his mouth finally but guess who showed up?

"Ethan, darling there you are. I was looking for you after someone knocked me away." She stood close to him, sending me nasty looks. I raised an eyebrow at her, daring her to disrespect me.

"Darling, who is she?" The way she spat that sentence like trash, ticked me. Ethan felt the rising tension, he hastily jerked away from Charlotte. Good.

She looked confused. "Baby?"

"Baby?" I mimicked her voice, with a high-pitched tone. "He is not your baby and shut up, this is a conversation between me and him".

I stepped closer to her, her expression turned hostile. She stood taller, trying to intimidate me with her glare. But I did not flinch.

"Baby" She emphasized the pet name, "Who is this bitch?"

"I am not your baby and don't you dare call her a bitch." Ethan's sharp voice rebutted her sharply. He glared at her in disgust.

My chest swelled in pride when he defended me. Charlotte was surprised, It was clear no one had ever denied her or rebutted her.

"Baby-"

"I said don't call me that and my wife is right, we were having a conversation before you interrupted us".

Ethan stood next to me and my smirk grew even wider as she staggered away in shock.

"Wife? Are you serious, Ethan? This, this thing is what you want to be your wife. "

She argued, her eyes scanning me up and down in disdain.

"Yeah, and not to correct your English but I am his wife. Now and forever." I got my face closer to hers, I was making a point and she better take it before I hit her.

She scoffed. "Not for long."

"Hubby" I emphasize greatly, I ask, even though I already knew her. " Who is she?"

Ethan answers immediately, like a good husband. "She's Charlotte, she is the daughter of my mother's friend. An old acquittance of mine.'

Charlotte's mouth gaps, angry that he didn't dispel the name. I grinned smugly.

The tension between me and Charlotte was intense, igniting sparks of hate between us that fanned the flame to a bigger inferno. Ethan watched us face-off, not sure what to do. We were so engrossed in our battle that we did not notice that someone had dragged Ethan away.

"Boss, there's a situation that urgently needs your attention." It was Nathan.

The air crackles with tension as we are left alone, eyes locked in a silent battle.
