Jimin stood in front of Jungkook's apartment door. He'd tried to wait for him in their shared class, only to find that he had not come. He chuckled a bit to himself remembering how a short time ago, he had thought he was just a scorned lover turned siren. Now he was the Archangel of Death that predated even God himself.
Hesitating slightly, he knocked. When he received no answer and heard no noise from behind the door, he began to worry. Where was his angel?
"J-Jungkook? Are you there?" he asked as he knocked again.
"I am now," he heard from behind him. Jimin whirled around to find a very tense Jungkook walking down the hallway toward him.
"Oh," Jimin said lamely. He gestured toward the door of Jungkook's apartment. "I just...came to see you. To talk about...things."
Jungkook froze for a moment before nodding. "Yes. We do need to talk about things. Things I've only just found out about and things that I need to do to keep you safe."
Jimin followed him inside and flopped onto his couch, face scrunched in confusion. "Keep me safe? Am I in some sort of danger?"
"Namjoon wants you. As his partner. As his weapon. He's already turned you into a demon and I can't let him take you. It's more than just a selfish thing. It would mean a great war would begin, but I can't deny that there is some part of me that doesn't want him to have you that is selfish."
"Wait, what?" Jimin asked, flabbergasted.
"I just found out I'm not the Archangel of Healing, Jimin. I'm...I'm the Archangel of Life. You're the Archangel of Death. It's no wonder we have the pull we have towards each other. We were destined to be together since before God was even born. I don't know how to process any of this. I feel a little betrayed. Like my whole life and all the lives before it were all a lie somehow."
"The...the angel of life?" Jimin stuttered out. Flashes of Jungkook as a young angel played in his mind. Flashes of their lives before that when they'd stood as equals. Flashes of each lifetime he'd found the other half of his soul.
"I...I am you, you are me," Jimin gasped. "We-we are one and the same. Two sides of the same coin. I cannot exist without you and you cannot exist without me."
Jungkook nodded, having had the same return of the memories he and God had wiped clean. "We need to find the Archangel of Time. We have to protect him too."
They stared at each other for a too long moment before Jungkook looked away and asked the question that had been burning inside him all this time. "What have you chosen?"
Jimin gulped as he fidgeted with his fingers in his lap. "My choice. Hmm. Well...I choose...you."
Their eyes met as Jungkook's lips spread into a bright, bunny grin. He crashed into Jimin's form, scooping him into a hug. Their forehead rested against each other as the pair breathed in their shared air.
"It was always you, even when it wasn't. The things I did in this life. The death and destruction I brought. I can't undo it, but as you once said, death is a beautiful and necessary part of life. I always want to be a part of you, Jungkook," Jimin whispered against Jungkook's lips.
Softly at first, their lips met, then with a heated intensity, their passion grew. Jimin's fingers wove into Jungkook's hair as Jungkook's arms snaked around Jimin's waist.
"Thank you," Jungkook breathed out as they parted, "for always choosing me."
