"So, let me see if I'm getting this straight," Taehyung held up his hands and scrunched his brow. "You're part archangel of death, part vengeance demon, and part human...does that sound about right?"
Jimin pursed his plump lips and nodded. "Yeah, I think that about covers it."
"And you get to...pick? Like, you get to decide which you you want to be?"
Jimin nodded, eyes far away. "That's what Jungkook said, yeah."
"What will you choose, then? If you stay a demon, I'm certain that our king will want to steal you away for his own purposes."
"If I become an angel, I don't know that I could ever see you or Hoseok again, though."
Taehyung frowned. "And I suppose you can't choose the human side of you at this point, right?"
Jimin shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I'm also not sure I'd want to after all of this. I don't know that I could go back to being just Jimin anymore knowing what I know and having done what I've done. Jimin isn't dead, but I might as well have killed him the moment I agreed to sell another man's soul."
"That's a good point. Can you still be an archangel with blood on your hands?"
Jimin laughed at Taehyung's naivety even after three centuries. "I was death. Blood on my hands was my entire job."
Taehyung shook his head. "You didn't kill them, just collected them to deliver them to where they belong. You only have the blood of those you killed as a demon on your hands."
"Death isn't under God's jurisdiction so my righteousness wouldn't be called into question. Only my deserving Jungkook's love would. How? How could he still love me after all these millenia? After what he...what he knows I've done now?"
"You're always like this," Taehyung growled. "You always say the worst of yourself and never believe you could possibly be worthy of the things you desire. It's clear you desire him. It's clear that no matter which life you choose, he will be a part of it. From the small, singular conversation I had with him, I could already tell you are the center of his world, even before he knew who you were to him."
"He always was foolish that way," Jimin chuckled, letting his memories from other lives play in his mind like a movie of someone else's life.
"He's the center of yours as well. From the moment you met him again, your eyes were set on nothing else. Jimin," Taehyung gently tugged his friend's chin to meet his eyes, "I know I'm a demon and shouldn't say these things, but vampires...we keep so much of our human traits when we turn. We lose our lives and our humanity, but we still keep who we were at the core. We're the most sentimental, emotional, and human-like of all the demons, so I feel no shame in saying this. Choose with your heart. Let love guide your path. I...I think it's also time I follow my own advice."
Jimin sucked in a sharp breath. "What do you mean by that? You're not going to stake yourself, are you?!"
Taehyung laughed. "Why would I do something like that? No, of course not. It's just...I miss Yoongi-hyung. I think it's time I paid my sire a visit and rekindled what we had. I threw a temper tantrum like a child to leave a century ago and now I spend every day feeling as if there's a hole in my chest. I'm leaving, Jimin. I'm going to find Yoongi and I'm going to beg his forgiveness. I'm going to ask him to have me by his side once more, if he'll have me."
Jimin's lip wobbled. "I'll miss you, old friend, but I understand. I'll find you again. I promise. When the time is right, I'll find you."
They scooted closer to each other on the couch, shoulder to shoulder as they held hands and silently cried over their impending loss.
"I'm holding you too it, Park."
Jimin pinched the vampire's arm. "Make sure you hold your breath, Kim."
They giggled with each other even as tears streaked their ruddy cheeks. They cried until their heads slumped and became propped against the other's in their sleep.
