HIROAKI NAKAMOTO

☆You hadn't spoken to Sakusa the next day, you also hadn't left your apartment since you woke up. Currently, you were sitting on the couch with a bowl of cereal in hand and your laptop on your lap watching a lifestyle vlogger. This is what you did in your downtime, especially now that you had a lot of it.
You put job hunting on pause for the time being since your luck in that area wasn't looking so good. The vlogger you were watching showed off a green vase she bought and the shade reminded you of the envelope you received yesterday. Sitting up straight you sat the bowl of cereal down, pushed the video, and looked over to the spot you left the envelope yesterday.
It was still there and unopened.
Your curiosity finally got to you and you grabbed the envelope that sat there tauntingly. Siding your thumb across the fold of the envelope to tear it open you pulled out the slip of paper that read:
'Sending my condolences to you, Ayaka told me a lot about you and if you're ever in need of something feel free to reach out to me
00—0000–0000'
The handwriting was unfamiliar to you as well as the number. You couldn't help but reread it over several times. "Ayaka told me a lot about you?" you repeated out loud for the umpteenth time. Had she been in contact with someone and you didn't know? If so who?
You grabbed your phone, typed the number in, and typed a text. You didn't expect an immediate response so you sat down your phone only to feel it vibrate.
An answer already?
You read the response and scoffed as you typed out one back, this time you kept the phone on and waited. Unfortunately, since your bubble was green that mean you couldn't see the three intimidating dots that would normally pop up letting you know the other person was typing. You didn't wait long for their final response though. Looking it over you sighed to yourself as your typed your last response and called the unknown number.
The phone rang for what felt like forever until you heard the other line get picked up. You didn't dare speak first. "Hello?" the other voice rang through your ears. A lower voice, raspy and shaky.
"Hello," you repeated back. A sigh of relief was heard on the other side. "L/n, my name is Hiroaki Nakamoto." the man said. The name sounded extremely familiar, you stayed silent as you tried to think about where you had heard this name before. "Hiroaki Nakamoto," you repeated, the tone in your voice had turned from one of confusion to one of realization.
"As in Ayaka's long-time friend and boyfriend? You starred alongside each other in Okinawa Serendipity the hit romance movie of Japan from 1982. A literal classic." you asked as clarification. The man chuckled in response and confirmed. "The one and only."
You were now in awe at the thought of Ayaka talking about you to Hiroaki. In every movie or show you had seen him in you had a crush on him, as did many women in Japan. Especially in his prime, he was a heartthrob. It boy if you will. From 1978-1983 he and Ayaka dated and were very public. They broke up in early '83 for reasons unknown to the public.
However, since you were with Ayaka nearly every day for the past 4 years of your life you knew the reason they had split. Their love just wasn't the same. That's what she told you anyway. She said she'd always love him though whether it was romantic or platonic and you admired that about her.
You loved when she would talk about their romance though, just the thought of the things he'd do for her then brought butterflies to your stomach. And to know they were still in contact up until her last days warmed you heart even more.
"I'm honored even to have you know who I am," you finally spoke, giddiness rising in your voice. "I'm glad to hear, but L/n I'd love to meet you and have a talk in person, I'm sure you have many questions." you laughed at his words. "You bet I do," he could hear the smile in your voice, you were sure of it.
You felt that your excitement was pretty obvious though it was only audible to him. "I can give you my address and we could plan to meet whenever you're free," he told you and you were quick to respond. "Im free today, I'm doing absolutely nothing and I would be more than happy to come over now or later,"
It was silent. Maybe you were too quick. "Or whenever is good for you," you added quietly, regretting your previous quickness to answer. "Today is great, as long as you're able to make it here," Nakamoto responded before telling you his address which you immediately wrote down.
'Jingumae 1-1-1'
You stared at the address on the slip of paper and said your goodbye to Nakamoto before ending the call. As soon as you did so you immediately pulled up Google on your phone and put it in the address. It was in Nagoya, which was a three hour long train ride away. 5,290 yen to make the trip.
Did you 100% fully trust that this was THE Nakamoto Hiroaki? Yes, and no you weren't gullible but the chances of someone else knowing about you and Ayaka excited you. Maybe you could finally open up to someone about how you felt. You considered getting a therapist but threw away that idea quickly after it came to you.
Although the idea of meeting Hiroaki Nakamoto? You were ecstatic, sure he was a bit older but from the recent photos you've seen that man aged like fine wine. Considering he was only 67. You just knew you'd be a little nervous seeing one of your childhood crushes in person.
Things like this never happened to you.
