When the game started you tried to pay more attention than you did last time. You even asked Theo what each thing that happened meant. "So if the ball goes out of bounds and the other team was the one to hit it, we get the point?" you question and he nods. "Yeah pretty much, or if it hits the ground and we hit it to their side."
He began to go a little bit more into detail and you nodded along while keeping your eyes on the court. Atsumu was up to serve and the whole gym got silent. You remembered this from last time—Atsumu could only serve in complete silence.
Which to you was funny because the few times you've met him he seemed to be the loudest person in the room.
When he hit the ball some guy from the other team was able to receive it, then another guy set it, and another hit it over the net. The game consisted of back and forth usually the same pattern too. It wasn't hard to pick up at all.
The game was tied now and it was EJP's serve. Everyone was on the edge of their seats—quite literally. You and Theo were both so anxious to see who had one because you got pretty into the match within the hour.
You unconsciously were squeezing Theo's hand and he was squeezing yours. It was weird though—you don't remember when that even happened. It was only friendly though. Nothing else.
Their setter hit the ball across the net and Hinata received it and the ball went to Sakusa who hit it over the net. You watched with anticipation as the other team had the ball for a moment before spiking it back over and Sakusa hit it sending it to Atsumu's way and he set it up for Hinata.
The next thing you knew the gym broke out into cheers and black and gold confetti shot out of nowhere. You and Theo both jumped up out of your seats and screamed with excitement
Theo and you continued to jump up and down before hugging excitedly. Then you turned to your coworker beside you and hugged him too. "Wow, I've never been this excited over sports!" You exclaim turning back to Theo who was smiling at you.
"I can tell, you weren't excited last time. It's cute though." he smiled and you paused your celebrating and dropped your hands to your side. "Oh, thanks?" you say before clearing your throat.
You noticed everyone around you had rushed onto the court to congratulate the team and you glanced back at Theo. "Should we go congratulate them?" you ask.
"We can if you'd like," he nodded while running a hand through his dark brown hair. The two of you were just about to head to the court when the older Hasegawa stopped you. "Y/n come over here!" he urged you while gesturing you over with his hand.
You shoot an apologetic glance to Theo who's still next to you and he speaks. "It's okay, I'll just wait for you." he smiles before you head over to his uncle.
When you get closer to Marc and the rest of the group he begins filling you in on the plans to grab dinner before heading back to the hotel. You're just standing there nodding along with the rest of the group and you notice Theo approaching.
You're not the only one who notices Theo because when he gets closer his uncle acknowledges him and his eyes light up. "Theo you should join us for dinner, I'm sure they can squeeze in one more on the reservation!" the man exclaims. Theo glances over at you and he's giving you a look as if he's asking for your permission. You don't pick up on that though and just stared blankly at him.
"Sure, I can join if it's okay with everyone," he speaks while looking back at his uncle.
At this point, people have started clearing out of the gym and off the court and you guys were all still standing there. Along with janitors and vendors who were cleaning up or shutting down. While the team discusses dinner and including Theo you're too busy scanning the gym for the MSBY team but one player in particular.
Your friend, Sakusa.
When you realized none of the team was out there anymore you assumed they headed back to the locker room and looked back to the group next to you.
"So Y/n how was doing social media?" Himari asks and everyone turns to you waiting for your answer. "Oh it wasn't too bad, It was pretty easy. I feel bad though because Sani is doing all of the editing by herself." you frowned while crossing your arms. "I don't think you should feel bad if she offered." Haruto—another one of your colleagues spoke up.
You were ready to have a response but you heard footsteps approaching behind you and everyone turned to see who it was. "Sakusa," you smile when you eye the man. "Hi L/n," he greets with his face mask on while he eyes the people around you.
"Can I speak to you for a moment?"
You look over your shoulder to see your colleague's reactions. Himari is wiggly her eyebrows suggestively at you, Haruto and the two other men are trying not to laugh. While Marc and Theo don't have readable expressions.
"Yeah, sure." you nod uncrossing your arms and taking a step away from the group and towards Sakusa. He began walking to the center of the court making sure you guys were out of earshot from the group. You notice Sakusa hadn't changed out of his uniform yet and was still sweating from the match.
When he stopped walking you stopped with him and he turned to you while pulling his mask down. "Do you want to get dinner with me? To talk about plans for your license of course." He made sure to quickly add the last part.
"Now?" you ask and your eyes widen slightly taken aback. "That's fine with me I'll just have to let my coworkers know," you say while nodding your head in the direction of said coworkers. "Who's that other guy? That you were talking with during the game?" he asked nonchalantly.
"Theo? He's my boss's nephew," you tell him confused. "He's a big fan, you should introduce yourself." you encourage while urging him to follow you.
The dark-haired man furrowed his brows but pulled his face mask back on before following you. When you get back to the group with Sakusa following behind you everyone stares at you with wide eyes. "I'm actually gonna eat dinner with my friend if that's okay with you guys," you say apologetically but looking towards your boss with a look that seems like you were asking for permission.
"That's fine," Marc nods and you glance over to Theo who looks a little sad. "Oh and Theo, I know you're a fan so this is my friend Sakusa." you introduce the two, and Theo's look of sadness vanishes pretty quickly.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm a big fan!" he expresses gleefully while sticking out his hand to Sakusa. However, Sakusa grimaces at the sight of his hand and says, "Sorry I don't shake hands," he didn't sound sorry when he says it though.
"Oh right—I'm sorry. I read somewhere that you're not big with touch..." Theo apologizes while bringing his hand back down to his side awkwardly. "Yeah, but nice meeting you." Sakusa nods awkwardly before turning to you. "I can meet you at your hotel, we're staying at the same place," he tells you in a lowered tone.
You weren't aware of that fact and widened your eyes. "Okay, sure, you have my number, so just text me." you smile, and you both part ways.
"Oh, the articles are going to eat this up." Himari coos from behind you when Sakusa is long gone.
