When the dance is over I walk to my car and take out my phone. I see Dustin and Taylor. She is hugging him. I really regret listening to her. He looks up at her. She stands on her tippy toes leans in and kisses him. I walk to Adam’s car with him. I don’t know if I can hold the tears in much longer. “Are you ok Allie?” Adam asks me worriedly. “I am ok, I guess. I just have a lot on my mind.” He looks at me and smiles. I smile half-heartedly back. We finally pull up to my house. “ I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend.” Adam asks me. I turn to him tears streaming down my face. My makeup is a mess. “Adam, I like you a lot. I just don’t think that we will work out. It’s not you it’s me. I know that is just a corny break up line but it is better we don’t date. I have feelings for someone else and I don’t want you to get hurt.” Adam looks at me hurt in his eyes. I run out and run inside to my room lay down and cry.
Taylor is supposed to be my friend. I can’t believe her. I can never trust her again. She tricked me she wanted him for herself. I take out my phone and see I have a new message. It’s from Taylor I sigh. “Hey you and Adam really hit it off tonight. GUESS WHAT? I am not even going to wait for you to reply. DUSTIN ASKED ME OUT!” I look at the text again and again. I keep rereading it just to see if I read it wrong. I don’t know what to do. I decide to text Dustin. “I just want you to know that I like you a lot. Adam asked me out and I told him I have feelings for someone else. Dustin I want you to know those feelings are for you. Please give us a chance.” I lay down hoping Dustin will reply. After about five minutes he replies. I wait a few seconds before I open it. “No,” Dustin replies. I sit and cry. I cry more than I ever have before.
The next morning my mom wakes me up by bringing my laundry in. She can’t see that I have been crying. "How was the dance,” she asks me. “It was fine.” She leaves. I decide to get up take a shower and clear my head. I don’t know where I am going to go, but I am not staying home. I decide to text Adam. I really need him right now more than ever. He is probably so mad. He will never forgive me. I decide to text him anyways. “Hey Adam, I am so sorry for yesterday. I need you to know that I am so sorry. I just want you to forgive me. Please Adam I need you.” I really need him and he is always there for me. I take a shower. As the warm water falls on my face, I think, about everything. I come out the shower and use some mousse in my hair. My hair is curly and everyone tells me it looks like Madison Pettis. I take out some white shorts and a black tank top. I decide on my black bow headband and spritz some perfume on.
I grab my phone and see I have 3 texts. Two are from Taylor one from Adam. The one from Taylor says, “HEYYYY BEST FRIENDD you are being a lousy best friend. We are supposed to be flipping out cause now we both have boyfriend’s and you’re not even answeringL.” I roll my eyes and text back. “You’re right I am the worst best friend ever. I totally just tell you the guy you are head over heels for likes you back and then I go and date them. I AM SOOOOO SORRY I AM THE WORST BESTFRIEND EVER!” I don’t even open her other text. I take a deep breath and open Adam’s. “ I forgive you, but I certainly won’t forget. I’m sorry I thought you were different. I thought you were a girl I could be with forever, but you’re not. I think it is best we just forget each other. I don’t hate you but I am way over you. The kiss was amazing but I am done with you. Lastly, I think it’s best we don’t sit together at lunch anymore. Bye Allie.” I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t have my best friends. I don’t have Dustin, and I don’t have anybody. It’s all because of Taylor. I can’t believe I ever called her my best friend.
I decide to take a walk. I am not going to cry anymore. I walk to the town park. I take out my IPOD and blast Say Somethin by Austin Mahone. “I did Say Somethin and look where I am now.” I whisper to myself. When I get there I see there are only a few people. I go and sit on the bench in the field as tears stream down my face. A girl about my age sits next to me. She has brown hair, caramel skin, and hazel eyes. Her hair was curly like mine. “Hey, are you ok?” She asks me looking concerned. “I-uh-no- well-actually- NO JUST NO IM NOT!” I practically shout. “Tell me what’s wrong,” she tells me. I tell her everything. She sat and listened not interrupting but I knew she was listening. After I was finished she gave me a hug. “I want you to know I am here for you. I am new to town my name is Haley. I just moved here to Florida a few days ago and you seem so sweet. Do you maybe want to show me around and clear your mind of all that.” She asks me. I smile. “I’m Allie. I’m 16 and I am guessing you are too?” She nods and smiles.
After I showed her around we decided to go get some ice cream. We talked about school and exchanged numbers. She was so sweet. I gave her my phone to enter her number. “You have a new text. It’s from that boy Dustin who broke your heart.” I look at my phone confused. I am so shocked and confused when I read what the message says. “You honestly thought Dustin would want you. You honestly thought that he would break up with me for you. That text you sent him was pathetic. If it isn’t obvious the friendship is over. This is Taylor. Bye you pathetic little ugly troll.” I hand Haley the phone. She looks at me disgusted. “You were best friends with her?” I nod as fresh tears roll down my cheeks again. “I can’t do this Haley I can’t let her get the best of me.” She hugs me telling me it’s all going to be alright. “She wants to play love games. She wants to be a player then guess what Allie? We are going to create the game. We are stealing Dustin back. Taylor will be sorry. I promise you she won’t know what hit her ugly big head.”
