The next morning I woke up to an empty bed maybe all of this was just a nightmare. Austin walks in and I remember none of this was a dream. Austin took care of me. He has a plate of breakfast. It has pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. “Austin how did you remember this is my favorite thing in the world.”
“I remember everything about you princess.” He smiles and the butterflies are flying all over my stomach. Why is it we broke up again? “Come here I need to give you a hug.” He puts my food on the dresser and gives me a hug. “Sit next to me tell me what’s new with you.” He slips under the covers and hands me my pancakes.
While I eat he tells me he wasn’t over me. He talked about how none of the girls compared to me and he was so homesick so he asked if he could move back and his dad allowed him to after a semester. “When I came back though I saw you with Dustin and I hated him. I wanted you to be mine not his.” I smile at him. “I want to get back together with you too.” I smile. Austin treated me so much better than Dustin ever did.
“Tell me some more how was school?” He rolls his eyes as I stuff my face with pancakes. “Where did you get the whipped cream?” He blushes and looks away. “They didn’t have any and I knew you loved strawberries and whipped cream so I went out and got some for you because I knew you might still be a little sad.” I smile and give him a hug. “I am only a little, but knowing you would do that for me is super sweet.”
“I would do anything for you.” He is so cute I can’t stand it. “What are we Austin are we dating or like best friends?” He looks at me deep in thought. “We are getting to be really close. I think we shouldn’t rush it let’s see where the future brings us.” I smile again for someone who just broke up with their boyfriend I am smiling an awful lot.
“Austin will you do a heart broken girl a favor?” He rolls his eyes. “What kind of favor?” He winks and starts trailing light kisses up my neck. I push him away. “Austin not that kind of favor will you grab me the whipped cream you perv?” He laughs and gets up. “We could just make out. I’m better than whipped cream.”
“Go get me my whipped cream and then I will consider it.” I laugh as he runs to go get it. He comes back and throws me the bottle and keeps one for himself. While other kids my age, drink and do drugs I am highly addicted to whipped cream. I spray some into my mouth. He rolls his eyes. I laugh as he sprays some into his mouth.
“I am having so much fun with you.” He smiles and I decide to continue. “I was dating a guy who loved me but we never knew each other. You know me almost as much as you know yourself and I like that. Dustin has no idea I am obsessed with whipped cream. He doesn’t know I love the sound of thunderstorms and the fast pace of cities. He doesn’t know I love going to New York better than anywhere even Hawaii. He doesn’t even know that I overthink everything and it hurts me way more than he thinks when he cheats on me. Austin you get me.”
“Allie it takes time to learn those things about someone. When we were 3 months all we did was hang out. We talked but barely. It took time for us to share things and learn each other so well. I’m not saying you should get back with Dustin not at all you’re mine always will be but I am saying you should hear him out. I may not know Dustin but maybe he wanted to wait and tell you once your relationship was stronger.” I lean over and lay my head in Austin’s lap. “Can I take my time I don’t want to talk to him now?”
“Take however long you want baby.” He sprays some whipped cream on my nose. “Open up.” I open my mouth and he sprays a bunch of whipped cream in. “We should probably start heading home.” Austin says.
“Yeah I don’t want my parents to worry.” I try to hide the disappointment in my voice but Austin knows me so well. “Allie please don’t think about him remember he isn’t worth your tears. Stay strong for me, ok? I am having a party well my family is. We are having a New Year’s Eve party tonight how about you come and invite your mom and dad.” I smile and hug him. “Ok I will be there.” He smiles and I give him a hug. “See you tonight.” He winks and walks out. I don’t know how he did it but he made me forget I even had a boyfriend these 3 months.
