The pressure around my throat tightens like a pulled cord.
The forest. I need to reach the forest. Dream after dream has confirmed that I'll be free once I get past the barrier.
Something slams into my side, debris thrown from a high caliber bullet punching through the brick wall. Craters begin to dot the concrete by my side like raindrops as their aim improves. No time—they'll never believe it wasn't me. That I didn't kill the One prophesied to save them all.
I vault the wall and I sprint, the hiss of an approaching drone breathing down my neck.
