Resistance's Sanctuary

It was a long walk, but eventually they came across a large white wall. The crowd murmured a little louder in confusion.

"So.. what is this supposed to be..?" DJ looked at Second.

"The entrance." Second flashed a rare smile before turning to the wall and placing both his hands on it. Slowly and gently, the wall pulled apart with his hands, Light shone out from beyond, as a beautiful, utopian city unveiled itself. Sticks, humans, animals, even mythical creatures like dragons and other types of people roamed the streets, interacting with each other. Plants flourished and shone from the white light. A happy roar came from the skies as the people looked on in awe.

"Welcome to the Resistance's Sanctuary. You will find everything you need here. A home and food. Look around, and take your time."

They all immediately rushed inside. Once they all cleared out, the only few left were DJ and Second.

"This is one of the things I am most proud of. I made it all myself."

"All of it?" DJ looked over.

"All. When I first showed it to the others, they questioned me too."

"I don't blame them. This place is beautiful, how did you make all of this..?"

"Let's just say I like to draw, even if it isn't so clear. I take refuge in drawing in my spare time. It manages to take my mind off of things for a few minutes."

"You drew all of this?"

"Yeah. Here, let's walk, I need to check on everyone, anyways."

"What about the others?"

"They have it handled, they'll let me know if they need me."

Both of them entered. Second closed the wall behind him.

"7 years ago, we lost a battle for the first time, and had to retreat the people inside. Without their home, they had nowhere to go. They didn't fit in with other sites, if we just dropped them off somewhere randomly, it would certainly cause havoc. We didn't know what to do. So, I created a canvas of space, a website of its own, really. Then, I drew until my hands were ready to fall off. The objects I drew bloomed to life once I finished. We led the lost people into this new home, and they settled here. Some of them only spent a year or two here before they found that their creators recreated their sites. Some have been here since I made this place. I've continued to expand this place. This is the only place on the Internet, or Ethernet, that _nala has no idea about. It's protected by the Resistance. As long as me, Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow are alive, this place will stay hidden. If we die out, then this place goes with us. Especially me. My only worry for this place is that _nala may break through our defenses and find the refugees we rescued."

A shadow passed over them. A colorful bird swooped over them. It was hard to see it from the white sky, but once it circled around and landed on Second's arm, it was clear to see it was aflame. Its magnificent red, orange, yellow and gold feathers shimmered against the light, and the flames that adorned their feather tips. A phoenix. It cawed its greeting and nuzzled Second's cheek.

"Hello, Charr. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Is.. is that yours?" DJ couldn't help but stare.

"Yes, actually. She's my own creation. I drew her to protect the people here, and to also keep them in check. How have the people been, Charr?"

She cawed positively.

"Good, good. We brought in another group today, I'm sure you noticed."

The bird would nod, then look over and tilted its head at DJ.

"No, he's not part of the group. He's a new recruit to the Resistance, a real life person. Can you believe that?"

She took flight and landed on DJ's arm, and cawed another greeting.

"That means hello."

"Oh.. well hi..?" DJ smiled awkwardly. "How can you understand her?"

"I made it that way. Only I can understand her. Now, Charr, you'd best get back to work. I need to get back too."

Charr chittered sadly.

"I know. I know, I'll try to come back, but _nala has given us quite the handful."

Nodding, Charr screeched and took off to the skies.

"Now, let's catch up with everyone else. Cmon."
