ALOT OF things have happened within twenty-four hours-the ending of things and the beginning of things and through them, I welcome uncertainty in my mind and heart.
My hand drifts towards the collar feeling the power coursing through me, and I look at the cuff that has seven scales from Rusalye. I can still hear his cries that sounded like a song, they will haunt me for the rest of my life.
"You do know that you betrayed him when we first escaped, right?" Mal says to Nikolai. We were in Nikolai's quarters, planning our next move and sharing information that we have heard through the cracks.
He laughs, "I told you before that I liked powerful enemies, it makes me feel important and besides that, we have Alina and her shadow summoning."
I sigh. "I'm not formidable in shadow summoning, it seems that I'm better when put in dangerous situations," I glance at Mal and then Nikolai. "This mark has bonded us again and it is a more intense connection." I lift my sleeve and show them the eclipse mark on my right wrist.
Mal's fingers brush over it and I feel sparks-my heart skips a beat and small smirk forms on his face. He takes my hand in his and I squeeze it.
I'm here. I am safe.
Mal is here. Mal is safe.
But he's here too. And he keeps me safe.
Mal feels something for me but so does he.
I can feel the longing and aching through the bond. Whatever he feels, I feel it too.
I drowned out the rest of the discussion, I only heard that we would be heading for Novyi Zem. Supplies are dwindling and we hope to find out more answers.
