Shan laid on her bed. Her blinds were shut and her lights were off, she was surrounded in nothing but darkness. Her hair was stuck to her face due to how much she had cried since she had gotten home. She had no idea what had happened to her but as soon as she had entered her room, she could barely breathe, she was nauseous and she couldn't stop shaking for the life of her. She had never felt like that before, or, well, she has but it was a very long time ago.
Sometime in her childhood she had gained an inability to feel regular emotions for a while, so this happening again for the first time in a long time really did scare her.She had been staring at her ceiling in silence for hours after that. People had now stopped calling her and leaving messages so she assumed she could now relax and not have to deal with hearing people go on about how Margo was 'beat up'. The thought of it made Shan scoff. Of course people would believe that she was the one to beat Margo up and not the other way around. She had most people wrapped around her fat little finger and either no one was aware of it or no one cared. It really was surprising, though. The amount of shit that she spoke about others was insane, especially her closest friends. You think they would have found out by now, y'know?
Shan sat for another bit, she knew that the hardest part wasn't even over yet. Having to see her in school and work on their projects together were going to be the most terrifying moments of her life. She imagined what would happen when she walked into class and was met by Margo glaring at her, she knew exactly what she would to do her and she knew that she wouldn't be able to do anything back. No matter how badly she treated her over those months, Shan still had a soft spot for her and would never be able to hurt her. But that made her think back to the kick before she left the classroom and she immediately felt her face go red due to embarrassment. It was so stupid AND a guy was stood there as well. So she was a bad person and she embarrassed herself. Well done, Shan. She was then entangled in the thought of 'who could that guy be?'. She wasn't able to get a good look at him at all because of what happened and how it happened. She was really regretting not stopping to look at him. Then her phone rang again, she ignored it, of course, and waited for the message to come through.
" Yo, hey. Yeah this is creepy but uh, I'm Max Ellingboe,"
Shans eyebrows both raised at the mention of that name, she immediately sat herself up and looked towards her answering machine while wiping the tears off of her cheeks. She had English with him and had always (accidentally) stared daggers at him. She thought he looked cool, both personality wise and looks but he was so..different. Well, she was different. The two were kind of opposites so she could never actually talk to him without the fear of maybe being laughed at and/or told to fuck off. She kind of knew that she'd never have a chance at being friends with him.
"you probably know me from English. I was calling to say uh that, Margo was dealt with. Hope you're doing ok."
Shan immediately took the blankets off of her and sat at the side of her bed, grabbing her phone and calling him back as quickly as she could. She didn't know what she was going to say to him but she also didn't want to leave this alone. What does he mean 'dealt with'? Was he the one that beat her up? Were the messages she'd been getting actually true? She had to know right then and there what the fuck he was talking about.
All this rushed through her head in the span of the few seconds it took for him to answer. She was really panicking when he did, she was silent for about two seconds before inhaling and blurting out;"What do you mean by 'dealt with'? And why are you asking if I'm doing ok? Did someone tell you something? Did you see me leaving school? ...But, if you're calling me of all people to say she was 'dealt with' does that mean you were the one that beat her up? Are the rumours actually true? If you did, why? Please tell me."
