Shan was sat in her room, it was 10:45 at night. The next day she had to go to what was most teenagers dream aka prom. But she wasn't very excited about it in the slightest. Sure she had an 'amazing' dress picked out which was just casual clothing to her, and she was going with a guy from her very small friendgroup of nerds and losers. The guy wasn't really fitting to be there though, he had a good amount of friends and only occasionally hung out with her and the rest of her friends. He kind of invited himself into the group but no one had. seemed to mind it.
Unluckily for Shan, she hadn't heard from that guy in two days so basically from when he had agreed to go with her. She had a sick feeling in her stomach about it but tried to not think about it and focus on the good parts like how much fun she'd maybe have. She shut her blinds and got under her covers, falling asleep shortly afterwards.

At half six in the morning, Shan was awoken to her phone ringing like crazy. She groaned and put her pillow over her face, deciding to just let it to go her voicemail but as soon as it did her friend began screaming her lungs out for Shan to answer the phone followed by a bunch of , what shan hoped to be , joking threats.
She scrambled out of bed to answer the phone to Raven (her actual name was Amanda but she didn't feel like it was 'dark' enough).
"What, what, WHATTT?!" Shan yelled down the line, and was met to even more screaming right back at her.
"ARE YOU SO EXCITED FOR THIS?!"
Shan groaned and fell back in her bed, kicking her legs in the air. "A wee bit. I don't get it though, it's kind of dumb."
"Aw come on," the exhilarated girl replied "I thought you loved dances and all that kind of stuff?"
"I do, I do but— I don't know. Evan hasn't spoke to me in like a few days and I'm beginning to think that I'm gonna have to go alone."
Amanda got way too close to her phone before exclaiming "NO!! You'll be with me! We can dance and stuff!"
Shan smiled and nodded, she tried to get more comfy in her bed but the cord on her phone wasn't long enough so she sorrowfully stood up to get closer to the phone. "Aren't you going with someone, though?"
"Yeah..but it's fine! You can dance with us, I'm sure he won't mind."
Shan rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "You don't have to feel bad for me, you know? I don't need to go with someone to enjoy myself." There were a few moments of awkward silence before Shan made an excuse to hang up. "Right, well, I'm gonna get ready now. I'll see you later."
She quickly hung up and looked around her room for a moment. She should actually probably get ready since she'd end up leaving it to the last minute.
She loved her outfit but the gloves she had chosen for it were a bit of a weird texture that made her gag when putting them on but she felt it was too late to go back on it now, plus she liked how they added to the outfit.

After she had finished doing what she needed to do to get ready, it was already kind of no late. With still no word from her date, Shan sat down infront of a mirror in her room and examined her body. She leaned in to her mirror and looked at her face for a bit, she tucked her hair behind her ears and blew her cheeks out in somewhat disgust and embarrassment. She liked her ears but they looked very out of place, plus, she was too afraid to know what would happen if she had them out. She zoned out thinking about it and was snapped out of it by a knock on her door. She quickly ran down, purse in hand with all the things she thought she would need for the night. She almsot fell a few times due to the fact that she was wearing heels and she was not used to them. She exhaled before opening the door and being met by the bright smile of her friend and her friends date. Shan forced a smile at the two. She was expecting someone else.
"Shan!!" Her friend grabbed her hands and gently pulled her out from the door, closing it behind her. "You look so pretty!" Her date sat in silence. He looked like he thought otherwise or was just too scared to speak to Shan.
"You look..gorgeous am- um-" she chuckled "You look gorgeous, Raven. Really. Like, you're breathtaking!"
Ravens face lit up with a smile and she shook her head in response "Anyway, we should go now! I'm so excited for you to enjoy yourself for once. And maybe you'll even meet someone, huuuh?" She snickered and elbowed Shan over and over again.
"What?! No way. Don't be stupid. I don't even want to meet anyone anyway."
"Uh huh, I'm sure you don't." She said, rolling her eyes.
