Mia’s POV
Saying goodbye at the airport was one of the most awkward experiences in my life. The boys were lined up in front of Jess and me, waiting for their hugs and kisses. Jess went to the line, hugging each boy around the waist as they kissed her cheek. When she reached Niall, they embraced and kissed quite passionately, ignoring the cheers from Harry and Louis. I walked over to Harry, ruffling his curls as he pulled me into a giant hug. “Thanks for everything Harry.”
“Hey, I’m just a call or text away. Don’t forget me.” I laughed as he placed a kiss on my cheek. “I don’t think I could if I tried!” Harry gave me a small shove towards Louis, who picked me up and spun me around. “I’m gonna miss you, make sure you keep in touch.” “Louis you guys are going on tour it’s not like I’m moving! I’ll see you in a few weeks.” He laughed, kissing my hair. “I know, but a few weeks seem like forever.”
Next was Liam. This was extremely awkward, for we haven’t really spoken since the break-up. I was the first to make a move, walking over and gripping him tightly around the waist. He hesitated before wrapping his arms around me. At that moment I felt like we were still together. Like nothing had ever happened between us. I knew he felt it too. We stayed like that until Zayn decided it was enough, gently pulling me away from the other boy.
“Better say goodbye to me before it’s time to go!” I turned to look Liam in the eye. The pain was so evident it made me want to scream, to run back in his arms and never let him go. Liam didn’t understand. I couldn’t love someone who was like my dad. But then why did I love Zayn…?
“Hey, babes you ok? Come here.” I knew Liam was watching us. Zayn picked me up, looking into my eyes and grinning wider than I’ve ever seen him grin before. “Text me, ok? Every day. I expect a good morning and a good night text.”
I laughed awkwardly, fully aware of Liam’s stare. “Isn’t that the guy’s job to text the girl first? Whatever happened to “good morning beautiful?” Zayn put me down, kissing both of my cheeks before messing up my hair. “Stay safe. We’ll see you in a few weeks.” I nodded, making sure to not look in Liam’s direction.
Jess and Niall had pulled apart, and were now holding hands and watching me part with the boys. “Nialler, can you at least have the courtesy to step away from Jess for one second to give me a hug?” We both laughed, Niall kissing her hand before letting go and wrapping his arms around me.
Before pulling away, Niall whispered in my ear, “Keep Jess safe, ok?” I smiled at his concern for my best friend. “Of course. I wouldn’t let anything happen to her. Keep the boys safe for me OK?”
He nodded, suddenly pulling me away from the group. “Listen, I know the whole ordeal behind your relationship with the two. I know probably more than you do at this point. If you ever need to talk, I’m here.” I shook my head up and down, indicating that I would contact him.
Niall watched me, concern lacing his beautiful blue eyes. “He loves you, you know.” I looked up at him, tears filling my eyes when I realized who he meant. “I know.” I didn’t realize I was full on crying until Niall pulled me to him again, wiping the tears off my face.
“It’s going to work out. Listen, we have to leave, but I’ll be in touch alright? There’s so much I want to talk to you about, but now is not the time.” We both stood up, Niall’s arm resting on my shoulder as we made our way back to the boys and Jess.
Harry was the one who decided to bring up my puffy eyes and red-rimmed cheeks. “Hun, are you alright? What’s..” “Let’s go, boys. We’ve got a plane to catch.” “But Mia..” “Is fine. Harry. Boys. Let’s go.”
