Mia’s POV

“Hey, vas happenin?” Jess and I laughed at the familiar line, not believing that we were actually meeting One Direction. Zayn introduced the boys to us, and I laughed as he snapped his fingers in front of Liam’s face. Suddenly I froze. An image flashed before my eyes of a man who looked strangely familiar. For some reason I received a horrible vibe of fear at the thought of him. “Jess..” I whispered, but she was too transfixed with Niall’s face to hear me. I could see Liam standing up and walking towards me, asking if I was OK. All of a sudden everything went blank, and the only sound I could hear was the gasping of my own breath as the man choked me to death.

“Mia… Mia are you alright?” Someone grasped my shoulders, pushing me back onto the hospital bed. I blinked, clearing my vision of the nightmare. The hospital room was dimply lit, signifying that it was night time. I could tell by his voice that Liam was next to me. His worried eyes grazed my face as I took deep breaths.

“Liam.. who is the man?” I couldn’t help but ask him. I needed to know who he was, and why he frightened me so much. Liam’s hand brushed the side of my cheek, stroking my hair gently. “It was just a nightmare Mia. It’s OK. I’m here. There is no man. Everything is fine.” I shook my head, sitting up despite his protests.

“No… no he tried to kill me. His hands….” My hands reached up to encircle my throat. Liam reached up, quickly prying my hands away from my neck. “It was just a bad dream. No one will ever hurt you again Mia.”

“But who did? Why don’t I recognize him? And Zayn… why do I think of Zayn Malik when I think of him? Is it Zayn’s father? Why is Zayn Malik’s father trying to choke me?”

Liam’s eyes went cold, his expression empty of all emotion. “Mia. Go to sleep please. No one is trying to kill you. No one will hurt you. I’ll be by your side, always.” I gave up on asking about the man, knowing that Liam would win either way. I needed to know who he was, why Liam was keeping it a secret. And I was going to find out.

Liam’s POV

As soon as Mia went back to sleep, I let go of her hand and began pacing the room. She had dreamed about her dad, I knew that much. But why couldn’t she remember him? And why was she talking about Zayn as if she didn’t know who he was?

I pulled out my phone, texting Niall to take over watch for me while I talked to someone, anyone who might have a clue as to why Mia was reacting this strangely. Niall had gone out to grab dinner, but resided to an old restaurant when he realized that multiple numbers of fans were currently stalking him.

I’ll sneak out the back. Be right there. – Niall

It took Niall fifteen minutes too many to arrive at the room. The boy entered, his cheeks flushed and hair wild. “I can’t stand crowds. Ugh. Alright Li, go do what you need to do.” I nodded at him, patting his shoulder before taking one last glance at Mia. She was once again peaceful, her hands resting next to her head like a small child as she slept. I exited the room, looking for the nurse that was taking care of Mia. I spotted her writing something on a clipboard down the hallway as she left a patient’s room.

She looked up from her clipboard as I approached her, smiling at me. “Can I help you?” “Can we please talk?” The nurse nodded, motioning me to take a seat on the floor. She slid down next to me, watching me expectantly. I took a deep breath.

“It’s about my girlfriend Mia. She had a nightmare just now, but she couldn’t remember her dad or one of my best friends, who is also one of her best friends. I don’t know what to think I mean… She’s just tired right?” I silently pleaded the nurse to tell me that Mia was just tired. To tell me that Mia was just overthinking everything and she would remember in the morning.
