Mia’s POV
Liam held my hand as we walked downstairs to meet the rest of the boys. Niall glanced up from his sandwich. His eyes traveled from our joined hands to our smiling face and back to our hands before he grinned. I rushed over to the blonde, giving him a hug.
“Atta girl,” he whispered in my ear, and I grinned even more. “Couldn’t have done it without you.” I pulled away, skipping back to Liam and laughing when he picked me up and swung me around.
Zayn walked into the kitchen. When he saw me in Liam’s arms, he winked, making me blush. I blew him a kiss, which he caught and put in his pocket. I rolled my eyes, glancing up at Liam who was watching me with a smirk on his face. Everything was back to normal.
The boys, Ruth, and I watched movies for the rest of the day. Louis and Harry were tickling each other, Zayn and Ruth were in some sort of deep discussion, and Niall was on the phone texting. Harry was texting as well, and I was cuddled in Liam’s arms. He would occasionally stroke my hair or place a trail of kisses down my neck, making me giggle.
It was almost ten, and most of the boys had decided to call it a night. Zayn was still talking to Ruth. Niall stood up, taking his phone with him as he went upstairs. “Tell Jess I said hi!” Niall turned around, smiling at me before nodding and walking off. Harry was still preoccupied with his texting buddy.
“Hey, Harry who are you texting?” I asked, curiosity flooding over me. Liam leaned forward, placing his hand on my knee. “Is it still the wonderful T-Swift?” I laughed, and we both watched Harry look up from his phone as if in a daze.
“Huh? Oh no it’s not her, she’s great but she got a boyfriend. It’s actually someone you know Mia.”
I sat up straighter in Liam’s arms.
“Who?”
“Alice.”
I gasped, a grin spreading over my face. “Aw! Haz, I knew you liked her!” Harry blushed, standing up to go upstairs.
“See you guys later.”
“Have fun!”
Liam and I laughed as he walked away, obviously annoyed by our teasing. Zayn and Ruth were laughing with each other, and Liam pulled me up. “Come on, let’s go to your room and leave those two to… whatever they’re doing.” I laughed quietly, allowing Liam to lead me away.
Liam watched me run around the room, getting ready for bed. I brushed my teeth, rinsing my mouth and washing my face in the process. Finally, I crawled onto the bed and into Liam’s open arms. He leaned down, kissing me slowly. I sighed as we pulled apart. “I missed you so much.” I told him, leaning my head on his chest. Liam stroked my hair, kissing my forehead. “I missed you too, more than you can ever know.”
A few minutes of comfortable silence passed. My eyes were closed as I breathed in Liam’s scent. I loved when guys smelled nice. He shifted under me, causing me to look up. I could see worry in his eyes as he watched me.
“What’s wrong?” I smiled at him, but it was a weak smile. “It’s… it’s nothing.” Liam frowned, placing a finger under my chin and making me look him in the eye. “Mia, please tell me. It’s not good to keep secrets.” I sighed, wrapping my arms tighter around his stomach.
“It’s just… I miss them. Jess and Alice. I don’t want to go back to Colorado to live there, unless you know, I’m a burden here. Your family has given me the best of the best and I honestly don’t know how to ever thank you enough.”
Liam rubbed small circles into my back as I spoke, causing me to relax against his chest. “Mia, you could never be a burden. My family adores you! I think my parents would have a fit if you left. And Ruth is closer to you than she is with anyone. Tell you what, how about we invite the girls over here?”
