Mia's POV
The soft buzzing of my phone woke me up. I slowly stretched my arms in the air, groaning at the slight headache that had accompanied last night’s tears. According to my phone it was six in the morning. I could hear Alice’s and Jess’s soft breathing filling the room, and I slowly crept down the ladder, shutting the door silently in an attempt to not wake them up.
I filled the tea kettle with water, placing a green tea bag into a large mug. While the kettle heated, I went over to the couch and lay down. Once again, my phone buzzed, indicating that I had two unread messages. I smiled when I saw that they were both from Zayn.
Hey babes, we’re landed and heading to our hotel! Wish you were here, the bed’s too empty. Xox
I giggled at his flirting attempt. The next message made me smile so much that my cheeks hurt.
You’re probably asleep by now, just wanted to say I miss you already. Good night beautiful(:
I couldn’t believe that he had remembered. The kettle rang in the kitchen, indicating that the water was ready for use. I stood up, making my way over to the kitchen and pouring the steaming liquid into my mug.
“Well well well, look who is awake. What are you smiling all crazy about for?” I turned around, almost spilling the scalding tea on myself. “Dang it, Alice you scared me!” We laughed, and she walked over to give me a hug. “You ready for our all day girl’s day? I can’t believe you’re leaving tonight.” I nodded, taking a sip from my mug.
“I’m actually quite terrified. What if she hates me? I mean does she even know we broke up and I’m with Zayn now?” Alice took my hand and pulled me towards the living room. “No, and remember you and Zayn aren’t public. Trust me; she won’t hate you just because things didn’t work.” “But they did work…”
I stopped, wrapping both hands around my tea. The heat burned into my skin, but I didn’t care. “Liam and I worked…” Alice waited for me to continue, but when I didn’t say anything else she shook her head. “Yup, you guys worked so well that you broke up. Zayn is a nice guy.” “He’s not Liam.” “Do you want him to be?” I looked at my best friend, taking a deep breath and speaking the most honest words that came to mind.
“I don’t know what I want.”
The day went perfectly. After our little discussion, Alice went to wake up Jess while I grabbed a shower and got ready. We decided to go to Starbucks for breakfast, and then proceeded to shop at our favourite stores. The mall wasn’t too crowded, which was nice. A few girls came up to Jess and me, asking for pictures. We grabbed lunch, heading straight for Forever 21 afterwards. I made sure to grab some new outfits for London. A good first impression never hurt.
“What a day!” I laughed as Jess wiped her forehead dramatically. We were sitting outside of an ice cream parlor, sharing the sweet treat. It was nearly five o’ clock, which meant that my flight was due in two hours. “I don’t wanna leave you guys. I honestly wish you could come with.” They smiled at me knowingly. None of us wanted to part so soon after finally being together. “I’ve got Seth to keep company, and I need to start finding a job so we can keep that pretty little place of ours.”
I looked at Alice, nodding my head in understanding. Jess spoke up, “Same. Don’t worry, we’ll get jobs and keep everything running. You just worry about staying away from here and meeting some hot guys back in London.” I glared at Jess, giggling when she gave me her most innocent look.
“I don’t think we need any more boys in any of our lives.” We laughed and chatted for another ten minutes before calling a cab to take us home. My bags were already packed. Jess and Alice came with me to the airport, and we hugged out goodbyes. At one point I began to cry, and they joined me before leaving to go home. Even though I had protested, Liam insisted on my flight being first class. So there I was, sitting in a fancy white cushioned seat, listening to songs and smiling at the attendant as she asked if I needed anything else. I shook my head, pulling out my phone and sending Zayn a quick text.
