Niall’s POV
I laughed as Jess tripped on the sidewalk, earning a smack on the chest. We had decided to take a walk after hearing what happened between the three star-crossed lovers. I looked down at our intertwined fingers, smiling to myself. Niall, if your mum knew you were holding hands with someone after only one day…
“Hey Niall, let’s go watch the stars. It’s getting late, and the sky is supposed to be clear tonight!” “My, my have we got a little star gazer here?” Jess’s cheeks turned pink and I giggled, pulling our hands up and placing a kiss on her hand. She smiled, pulling me forward. I had no idea where we were headed, so I allowed her to guide me. We reached a large field. The grass grew bright green and shone in the setting sun. Flowers glittered under the stars, and I smiled. This was perfect. I had never been star-watching before and always believed it to be pretty boring, but I had a feeling that with Jess it would be different.
Jess found a dry patch of grass for us to sit on. Sitting with my legs crossed in front of her, I asked her to play Truth or Dare with me. It had always been one of my top favorite games. I loved the thrill of not knowing what would happen and dealing with either the good or disappointing surprise. She agreed, and I took her hands in mine. “Truth or Dare?” I watched her think, finally choosing the first option. “Of course, take the coward’s way out.” We laughed together, and I finally was able to catch my breath. “Have you ever gotten drunk?” I watched her smirk at me. “No, Niall. I’m not like some people.” Her wink sent chills up my spine. Why was she so damn perfect?!
“Truth or Dare?” I thought about it, and decided to choose truth. “How much food have you ever eaten in one day?” I pondered the question, coming to the conclusion that the amount was so huge, it could not be measured. For the next twenty minutes, we bombarded each other with truths and a few dares. The sun had already set, and it was quite dark outside. It was my turn to give her a dare. I thought back on last night, how she had cuddled up to me when we were sleeping. How she made my heart race, and I’ve only just met her. How I could be myself around her. I was scared, scared of getting hurt and falling in love. But what is love without a risk? I took a deep breath, leaning in closer towards her.
“Kiss me.”
I heard her catch her breath, and I immediately wondered if it was too soon. My mind raced with thoughts of rejection, but before I could think any further I felt Jess’s breath on my lips. Was she actually..? I let out a shaky breath that I didn’t know I had been holding, adjusting my legs so they weren’t in the way. Our lips brushed gently against each other. Shutting my eyes, I closed the gap between us. The kiss was sweet, not lustful or needy, but just right. Her lips moved against mine perfectly. I pulled away, catching my breath. My insides felt like they were melting with happiness. Her eyes were watching me ask if asking “was that alright?” I smiled. “That was perfect,” I whispered, pulling her closer towards me. As the moon shown down on us, our lips met once again, fulfilling the desire that lay in our hearts.
Mia’s POV
Four hours had passed since the café incident. Liam and I were sprawled out on his couch, talking about anything and everything. He told me about his life before becoming famous. I told him about my best friends, Jess and Alice, who made up the happiest part of my life. Alice was miles away in Illinois, but she was due for a visit very soon. There was a comfortable silence in the room, leaving Liam and me in our own little worlds.“I like spending time with you Mia. I can be myself, and I don’t have to pretend.” I smiled, leaning over and placing my hand on his knee. “I don’t want you to be anyone else other than yourself, ok? You’re prefect.” Liam rolled his eyes, reaching over and grabbing my hand from his knee. He stared at my hand, and I could tell he was thinking hard.
