you were in your pod, learning a dance for the upcoming gathering between the two clans. luckily for you, a ta'unui dance was almost identical to a metkayina dance. but you needed to practice more, you had to dance in front of twice as many people this time.
"i know this is not much room my child, but we can not take the risk of practicing on shore. the dance is supposed to be special, a surprise." your mother said. you were moving your hands back and forth, hips swaying as you listened to the music that you were going to be dancing to in the distance from the na'vi that were practicing.
"i know mother, and it is okay. i am still able to do what i need to." you said, still dancing. you suddenly tripped over your phone foot, falling. "ow!" you yelled, now on the ground. your mother's attention immediately went to you as she checked you for any injuries.
"i'm fine mother." you said, softly yanking your tail back. "let's take a break. oh we can return at eclipse." eclipse was soon so it was probably around an hour. you thanked your mother and walked out of the hut, rubbing your lower hip.
you soon found tsireya and rotxo with the sullys by the shore, teaching them a dance. you walk towards them, tuk catching your attention and running towards you.
"marali! hi!" you caught tuk in your arms. "hi tuk! what are you doing?" you asked, setting her down after the hug. "tsireya and rotxo is teaching us a dance! it's different from at home but it's still fun!" you smiled at tuk as you then looked at tsireya and rotxo.
"i don't know why but i'm so nervous." you said. "you got this, trust me ao'nung is very nervous too. mother told him he could take a break from practicing, but he refused. which is really rare for him. just try not to focus on the amount of people there." tsireya said. you nodded at her with a smile.
you then started rubbing your hip again, trying to ease the pain. "you okay?" tsireya asked. your head shot up as you looked at her. "hm? oh yeah, i'm good. i just fell on my ass while practicing." tsireya laughed at what you said before hearing a thud behind her making her quickly look back to see lo'ak on the ground, kiri on top of him."ow!" lo'ak said. "sorry brother!" kiri said quickly getting up then helping lo'ak. "you're good. damn that hurt." lo'ak hissed, rubbing his back.
"i can help teach you the traditional dance if you want. i don't mind." you offered with a smile. tsireya and rotxo were quick to take your offer. so decided to help tuk because you knew tsireya wanted to be with lo'ak and rotxo wanted to be with kiri.
you started helping her practice an easier dance that was typically for younger children around her age.
tuk got the hang of it quickly and before you knew it, she was doing it herself. "good job tuk!" you said, softly clapping.
you then heard your mother call you from a distance, meaning you had to get back to practice.
"i gotta go, but i'll see you guys tonight!!" you said before walking off, hearing them all say their goodbyes.
you returned to your hut and walked in with a smile. "hi mother." she returned the smile, "hello my child. i saw you teaching one of the sully kids a dance."
"mhm, and she caught on pretty quickly, they all did." there was a wave of silence while you were helping your mother with some things before saying, "do you ever wonder how the eldest sully boy behaved? or how he looked?"
your mother looked at you with a small bit of confusion. "it's never really came to my mind, why do you ask?" you just shrugged, "i don't know, i just remembered how ao'nung told me that i remind him of neteyam when we first met. it just makes me wonder how the boy was."
your mother let out a hum, "well if you remind people of him, then he must've been an excellent boy." your mother said, kissing your forehead and making you giggle.
