chapter 18

you were walking along the shore, looking at how your feet make imprints in the sand. ao'nung was currently trying to get better at hunting because his father said he needed to.

well he was supposed to be hunting.

you looked up and saw ao'nung with a girl. the girl was really close to him, lightly rubbing his left arm. you felt your chest clench up a little as you watched. you saw ao'nung back away from the girl but the girl just got closer.

you walked closer to the two, hiding behind a tree and listening to what they were saying. "i said i'm not interested." ao'nung said, clearly annoyed. "come on ao, i can treat you so much better." the girl said.

ao'nung pointed at the girl, "do. not. call me ao. it is not your place to do so." the girl just scoffed but wouldn't leave. you had an idea.

you walked up to the two, ao'nung noticing you right away making you slightly smile at him. when you got close enough to him, you wrapped your arms around his waist and kissed his jaw, "hey ao, what are you doing?"

you looked back at the girl who had the bitchest look on her face. "i was just hunting tìyawn." the boy said with a smile.

you heard the girl scoff then mutter, "he deserves someone better than her." you turned around and narrowed your gaze at her. she looked at you and you hissed at her which made her finally go away.

"ugh finally. took her forever. and she called you ao?? my eywa." ao'nung looked at you with a smirk, "were you spying?" you stayed silent. he lifted your chin with his hand to make you look at him which made your heart flutter.

"maybe i was. but the fact that she had the audacity to call you ao. and she kept touching all up on you." you said with a scoff following.

"jealous much?" ao'nung joked. "ha ha. are you almost done though? i have nothing to do around this stupid island." "hey this is my home you're talking about," he said jokingly, "but yeah i'm just about done. i would've been done a while ago if i didn't get interrupted."

you laughed at his comment before slowly letting go of him and sitting on a nearby rock. "you just gonna sit there?" he questioned. "mhm, and watch you flex those humongous muscles you have." you said sarcastically.

he rolled his eyes while laughing to him before turning around and continuing to do what he was doing. you just watched him, chin on your knees and arms around your legs.

after an hour or so, ao'nung was finally finished. he walked over to you and picked up his spare gear. you got up to join him, "just about done my ass, you were there forever!"

"sorry, i decided last minute to get a little more practice in. you didn't have to stay y'know?" he said, starting to walk off with you following.

"i mean it's fine, i didn't mind. i just really thought we were gonna be a few minutes." you said, laughing. ao'nung laughed back as you two continued walking.

once you two finally stopped laughing, ao'nung started talking, "so how's your neck?" you looked at him with confusion then remembered, the hickey.

"i mean it's faded a little but my parents or sister hasn't noticed yet so that's a win win for me. i've just been wearing my hair a certain way."

"well at least it's fading, it doesn't hurt does it? i don't know what a hickey feels like." he said with a small laugh after. you shook your head, "no, not really. i sometimes forget it's there honestly."

you and ao'nung kept talking as you walked back to his hut so he could put his things away.

you two eventually got to his hut but overheard both of your parents along with jake and neytiri talking. you both decided to listen in and perked through a crack in the wall.
