Falling for the Football Star
Chapter 5: Will you go to homecoming with me?Previously on "Falling for the Football Star": "Good night!" With that, Lily walked out of the room as her face tugs into a worried expression. She walked to her bedroom and stayed up most of the night as worries cluttered her mind.

A few weeks have passed since the incident. It's been a few weeks since Skyla started keeping to herself. Her once shining smile has slowly faltered. She makes her way into the school with Lily by her side like always with her books hugged up close to her chest. "Homecoming is Saturday. Are you going?" Lily asks as she peeks over at her friend.
"Oh, um yeah as long as you are." She nodded; gulping slightly.
Lily smiled at her as she patted her shoulder. "Of course, let's go shopping after school for dresses."
Skyla simply nodded as her eyes fell to the floor. Lily pouted slightly, seeing her friend so upset and not being able to help, hurt her deeply. Isaac and Chris have been busy with football lately so they have hardly been around the two. "I'm going to go to the Library before class," Skyla spoke up with a small smile. "I'll meet you in class, okay?"
Lily nodded at her while failing to hide her concerned expression. "Yeah, I'll see you there." She agreed hesitantly. The two of them split ways and Skyla makes her way to the Library on the second floor. She returned the books in her arms to the librarian before starting to browse through the romance section. Lately, books have been her biggest comfort. Locking herself up with a book for hours helps keep her mind occupied. As she was browsing through, a bright pink book caught her eye. She reached up for it, struggling slightly due to her height when suddenly another hand reached up and grabbed the book before handing it over to her.
Skyla looked over at the mystery person only to see Isaac standing next to her with a grin on his face. "Hi, there stranger!"
"Um- hi?..." she spoke out softly as she looked down at her feet once again.
"Do you love me?"
"What?" She snaps her attention to him, confused.
"The book. Is it good?" He asks curiously as he gestures to the book in her hands.
"Oh," she looked at the book before shrugging slightly. "I don't know, it seems interesting."
He watches her closely and his once playful grin falters to a frown. "Lily told me you've been staying in your room lately."
"Yeah."
"Why's that? Is something bothering you?" He inquires as he takes a step closer to her.
She looks up at him, not knowing how to answer. "I- um, I don't know." She barely managed out as she took a step back.
"Everyone's been worried about you, especially since... since the incident." He spoke out hesitantly as he kept stepping closer to her. Skyla eventually stepped back into the wall as Isaac leaned his hands onto it, on both sides of her head. "Is that why you stopped smiling?" She stared up at him as she felt her eyes water, tears threatening to fall. This conversation that she's been running from has finally caught up with her.
Isaac stared back at her, admiring her big hazel eyes as he saw the tears forming. "Y...Yes." The moment she spoke, the tears fell onto her cheeks and she hurriedly wiped them to no avail as the tears kept falling. Isaac watched her for a second before gently pulling her into his chest, and hugging her tightly.
"Just let it out. Don't hold it in any longer." He whispered to her as Skyla cried into his chest, gripping his shirt slightly. All the built-up pain, fear, and sadness flooded out of her at that moment. They stayed like this in silence for a few moments as Skyla sniffled and hugged him as if he was going to disappear the moment she let go. After she calmed down, Isaac slowly pulled her away from him to get a look at her. Her tear-stained face and puffy red eyes looked up at him. He laid his hands against her rosy cheeks as he wiped the remaining tears away. "Has something else been happening that has gotten you so upset?" he asks warily.
