It would be another two weeks before Izara regained her full strength.
From that moment on, we trained together almost every day and before I knew what was happening, we had been training for over a month. The time had flown faster than I would have liked, and deep down, I realised that I enjoyed spending my every waking moment with her, at least when I was not seeing to my kingly duties.
To be honest, it was amazing how much one could learn about a person when being around them for prolonged periods of time.
Did I regret wasting all those months since Izara had come to the castle?
Not really.
For I was a firm believer in everything happening for a reason and I had considered that while my hate for her had been unfair, it had led us to this point in our relationship.
The fact that we were now building a solid friendship made what Izara and I went through all the more special. Even if I had to put up with Khagra's incessant teasing, seeing Izara flourish even under my hate, allowed me to see the type of person she was.
In my experience, not many people would risk their lives for someone who loathed them.
Did that make her a fool?
Perhaps.
But as I glanced over at her while she took a break from training, I realised that I would change absolutely nothing about her. Nothing at all!
My eyes slowly trailed over her body.
The way the mid-morning sun danced across her brown skin was almost mesmerising. The small gold clasps intertwined into her dark twisted hair glimmered in the light and I found myself wanting to play with her sleek curls.
This morning, we had decided to train on the south side of the castle gardens, near the edge, where a river passed through. The various large trees provided ample shade and being out in the open meant that it was less likely for Izara to hurt anyone.
Moving my gaze towards the light-coloured clothing she wore; I found a smile tugging at my lips.
I had gotten some Orc-styled fighting garments tailored for Izara.
She looked like a warrior in the short-sleeved top and long fitted pants with black boots on her feet. It was hard not to get distracted, watching the soft material stretch across her alluring curves. Not to mention that I had a particular fascination for how the fabric of the trousers moulded over her large hips and generous backside.
The surface of my palms itched to touch her, but I never once gave in to my urges.
Not even when Izara herself had shown me that she was interested in me as well. She thought that she was being subtle, but I caught her ogling my exposed torso on more than one occasion. As a result, I had purposefully begun to train without a shirt, enjoying the way Izara's brown eyes would roam over my naked skin.
Khagra liked to taunt me, claiming that I was stalling.
Yes, I was.
If I was being honest with myself, I wanted to get to know Izara better before stuffing her full of my cock.
Being her friend had been nothing short of amazing and it had been years since I had allowed myself to be this close to a human. A part of me felt like bringing attention to our mutual attraction to each other might somehow tarnish what we had been building together.
Before I could give the notion anymore thought, Izara called out to me.
"Your Majesty, are you ready?"
