Thor and I zoomed, well more like raced our way to New York City. The closer we got, the more damage I could see the Chitauri had already done to the city in such a short time. There was a portal in the sky where the Chitauri were coming from. New York City. The place that people refer to as "The Big Apple." Biggest city in America and currently, the battlefield of the Avengers and the Chitauri."I need to confront Loki! Try to reason with him!" Thor shouted to me. I nodded and watched him fly towards Stark Tower, where Loki currently was. I continued to fly through the sky, shooting bolts of electricity at any and every Chitauri that crossed my path. I could see Natasha, Barton, and Steve fighting the Chitauri down on a bridge by Grand Central. I saw that a few Chitauri were about to attack the trio so I cast out a forcefield to block the oncoming attack while sending out an attack of my own, electrocuting the aliens. I flew down to the bridge, hovering in front of Steve, Nat, and Barton.
"Well, you sure took your time getting here," Nat jokingly said to me as I jumped off my board.
"Yeah, sorry about that. I was bonding with an Asgardian Prince."
My attention was then directed to the group of about five Chitauri soldiers making their way towards us, shooting their guns. I put an energy field up, stopping the lasers from the guns from hitting us. I smirked at the Chitauri, using my telekinesis to send the energy field towards them, taking all five aliens out.
"Nice job," a male voiced said from behind me. I turned to face the owner of the voice and it belong to Agent Barton, the one who was under Loki's mind control.
"Thanks," my voice holding a suspicious tone and my body going a bit rigid at the presence of Agent Barton. Natasha called out to me, holding both her hands up.
"He's on our side Charlie. I managed to break Loki's mind control."
"How?"
She gestured to her head. I nodded in approval.
"Alrighty then," I turned to Barton, "nice to meet and work with you, Agent Barton."
"You as well Charlie," he responded with a slight smile.Thor then landed on the ground next to a flipped taxi. He went to stand up straight but ended up falling back against the taxi. I hurried over to him to check on him. I noticed a wound on his lower left section of his abdomen. I faced Thor and he gave a look that told me not to worry about him. I patted his left shoulder and turned to Steve, who was walking towards Thor and myself.
"What's the story upstairs?" the super soldier asked the Asgardian.
"The power surrounding the cube in impenetrable."
"Thor's right we gotta deal with these guys," Stark's voice suddenly piped up on the intercom. We looked up and watched Stark fly past us with a group of Chitauri flying behind him.
"How do we do this?" Natasha asked Steve, who like the rest of us, was watching the Chitauri continue their assault from the sky. He then turns to the four of us.
"As a team." A team? Is that what we are now? I sure as hell hope so. I thought to myself.
Thor takes a frustrated step forward, tightening his grip on Mjolnir; "I have unfinished business with Loki."
"Yeah, get in line," states a very angry Clint Barton who was adjusting one of his arrows. I glanced toward Stark tower, at the Chitauri causing chaos, then back to my team. I took in a deep breath, then stepped forward.
"Steve's right. We've gotta work together if we are going to even have a sliver of a chance at stopping Loki and whatever or whoever he is going to have come through that damn portal. I personally wanna kick Loki's ass as much as the rest of us do, but our main priority is shutting down the portal and making sure no one else in this city gets hurt."
Thor and Clint both went to protest, but Steve put his right hand up, stopping them both.
"Save it. Loki's gonna keep the fight focused on us and that's what we want. We've got Stark on top, he's gonna need us to-"
Steve's commanding voice was interrupted by an engine coming towards us. The four of us turned towards the noise only to see a warming and hopeful sight. Dr. Bruce Banner on a shitty looking motorbike. A sigh of relief escaped my lips, a smile gracing my face as the doctor stopped the bike and came towards us. His clothes were rattier than the ones he wore on the Helicarrier which led me to assume that the Hulk had in fact been released during the assault by Loki's people on the Helicarrier.
"So, this all seems horrible," he says to us, a slight hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"I've seen worse," Natasha's voice was calm, although she had a slight smirk on her face, I could tell she was nervous to be around the doctor. She must have met the Hulk then.
Dr. Banner apologized to her, and the agent then stated that we could use a little worse. We all had to agree with her. At this point in our fight, there was no way we would be able to continue fighting without the Hulk's help. Steve informed Tony that Bruce had shown up.
"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you," was Tony's response. Suddenly, said man flew around the corner of a building with what looked a giant flying lizard coming towards us. I took my escrima sticks off my back, charging them up with my electricity. The giant lizard thing slammed down onto the pavement, sliding over abandoned cars, and coming towards us even faster than before. Bruce started walking towards the alien creature. I called out to the doctor, he turned to face me.
"I think now might be a really good time for you to get angry Doctor."
"That's my secret Miss Denver," he stated while continuing to walk forward, turning to the enemy in front of us, then back to me with a determined look in his eyes.
"I'm always angry."
Bruce then turned back towards the monster and began to transform into the Hulk. After transforming, Hulk slammed his fist down onto the face of the creature, slamming it's body into the ground. The creature's body started to stand in the air, it's armour began to break exposing it's flesh. Tony flew towards it and shot missiles at the flesh of the creature. As it started to explode, I put up a field covering everyone as the creature fell. The Chitauri started to circle us, growling, and screaming towards us. Hulk roared back, the rest of us getting prepared for what was coming next. I spun my escrima sticks in my hands, a smirk plastering itself on my face.
This is going to be fun.
