They say the hardest part of a thousand mile journey is the first step
But what about that second step
What happens if you fall down
Do you just have to expect the first step was
easier and get upOr do you give up
Do you fight to stop this idea that the first step is the hardest
What if you do get up
You start taking that third step and yet again
you fallWhat if you get up again and again but fall every time
Every step of the journey you fall
Then the first step would be the easiest
The only step you didn't fall
The idea is the first step is the hardest
But that's almost never true
(This is perhaps one of my favorite poems I've ever written. It has a very distinct truth to it that I just love. I wrote this poem whilst having writers block while writing my novel one day, and it really helped me power through it.)
