I am a puppet
A pawn
Something to be used and disposed of
I must protect the king
I may hate the king
Despise him
But I am a pawn
To be used
Thrown away
But a pawn is special
En passant
A move no other piece can perform
A move that can checkmate the king like both must
A pawn can save the king
End another
I am not just trash
I can be the queen
Dazzling as the light that shines through the coldest nights
(This poem was written in my English class. It was a writing activity that was meant to be writing a poem based off Chen Chen's "As so much potential" (I'm not sure that's the actual poem title) however I believe this captured my love of chess as well as my own feelings towards certain aspects of society and the class structure in a way.)
