We had an hour exactly before lunch then we were leaving in the boat to head back for the mainland to get more supplies. I figited with my hands as I sat there on the couch desperately trying to think of something with my hollowed out empty brain with only a few brain cells. "What if....nahhh, they wouldn't fall for that" Flic said sitting up straight, waving a hand like dismissing the idea and then leaning back into the couch again. She stared back at me as I held her gaze, telling her to say what she had thought. "You might of as well say it, cause we certainly don't have anything else in our brains except for a few useless brain cells that are left!" I said and she sat up, hunching over her legs with her hands on her thighs.
"What if, if you walked in and started checking threw your bag to make sure you've got everything just before we leave- I mean, they... they might feel safe hidding their faces in the crowd so no one can see them laughing?" she said shrugging in the end. " I think that's our best plan, I'll stand at one end of the crowd, Sky at the other and Flic can be on board because she dosent do well with boats, which gives her a better opportunity because they won't expect her to be looking for any funny reaction and lastly- Aquilla. If you don't mind you could take the middle of the crowd, I mean not to be mean or rude or anything but your with your height people will think your just trying to see if you move around and try to listen to any conversations" Ace said casually relaxed in her chair but her fingers were white from gripping the arm rests too tight.
"Ace! You fucking genius!" we all shouted in unison. She jumped a bit but then gave us a huge grin. We had a plan. Now, time to put it in action. We packed our bags and headed for the cafe for lunch. Just like we planed as the teacher's wrapped up their mini lecture I started wondering towards the boat only to stop halfway and check my bag, the sand was burning my feet but I didn't care that it made me almost cry. It actually helped my performance I think. While I looked around pretending to look for the book i couldn't see anyone who looked like they were enjoying our little show. I eventually have up after a minute and then sighed " I guess it's gone then, oh well it just had boring stuff in it for music class-not that important".
As I turned the engines on and the boat roared to life Ace came up to me and whispered something in my ear, I thought it was because of the noise of the engines or the risk of miss hearing her but it was both. "Was at the back of the crowd, saw girl with stupid name smirk and look threw her bag only to find nothing, but it gets worse- Miss over here was looking as well and she had something in her hand that she was shoving into her bag"- the engines died down and Ace changed the subject speaking louder this time-" Flic said her and Aquilla brought up the back anchors and Sky was making sure no one had touched anything" Ace said then she smiled at miss and quickly desended down the staircase to the others. "I thought you'd be a bit sad by now" Miss Millde said and I whipped my her in her direction. "Sorry, what?" I asked.
"Oh nothing, just that we been in this place whatever the hell it is foe almost a month, but for sure you'd have to be missing someone" she said knowing she'd get an answer back. "Oh...i'm not good with my emotions, I've just noticed that a couple weeks ago. But- I don't express, show alot of emotion out loud compared to what I keep inside me. It's like, I try not to bottle them up but no matter what I just don't feel them, I don't let out all of the emotion because it comes out in these emotional outbursts when i'm alone. But. Yeah otherwise I'm not one to show most of my emotions out loud, rather bottle them up...and I have not choice it just happens. I tend to beat myself up about it, alot- mentally" I said a tear finally making its way out of my eye and rolling down my cheek.
Then my teacher did the weirdest thing a teacher could have. She hugged me, a good proper tight hug. "I think this is your's"- she said placing a book in my hands-" I found it in, well you know who's bag with your name on it and I thought we'll you'd never give that to them so I took it off of them, out of their bag. Hey, they did steal it didn't they" she said in a soft whisper, now back to were she was before, at the door to the captins room. I just nodded my head, flooded with emotions and turned back to the ocean infront of me. "How much did you read?" I asked placing the book in my bag." Oh not much just onky the fisrt few pages....what the hell is a book of shadows?" She asked like she already knew the awnser but was dreading it.
