There are times when I have the strongest urge to write but I've a sucking writer's block.. And there are times when I just don't feel like floating the clouds of imagination 'cause the real world around me is just beautiful! Can you deal with this contrasting character?
Nevertheless, happy reading :)
----------------------------------------------------Aryamann's PoV :
Tamanna hadn't replied to my texts nor answered my calls since yesternight. Only when I called up Trisha had I learnt that she ditched me at the party halfway and returned home.
I wondered what the reason could be. Did someone recognize her at the party? Did Harry retaliate and cause her any harm? Or was I at fault?
To find the answers of all the questions parading inside my head, I was determined to show up at her door tonight.
At my usual timing I was driving to work. Just then my assistant rang me up and informed that a certain student had cancelled their scholarship. When I asked for their name, it came as unexpectedly as a catastrophe - Tamanna Sen.
Change of plan - I would confront her at that very moment - and steered towards UEL.
On reaching the varsity, I quickly made my way towards the Principal's office and barged in without permission. To my good luck he wasn't occupied with any other visitors.
''Sir, it's an emergency!'' I announced.
''I am sorry, Mr Rathore, but this ain't a hospital'', he replied nonchalantly.
Ignoring his oblivion towards the seriousness of the matter, I requested, ''Could you please ask Miss Tamanna Sen to come over right now?''
''May I know why, Mr Rathore?'' he spoke as calm as always. In case you haven't noticed #21: Being impetuous resolves zero difficulty in the world, agreed, but excess composure can also mess things up.
As of that moment, it was irritating, sheer irritating!''She has cancelled her scholarship, Sir!'' I attempted to not bite my teeth or clench my fist in annoyance.
''Nothing that I am not aware of'', he said.
''And you let her?'' He slightly shrugged his shoulder in response.
''May I know why, Mr Grayson?'' I spoke mocking his calm tone, giving him a taste of his own medicine.
''She won't disclose the reasons'', he replied.
''Could you please call her in your cabin right away?'', I pressed, my tone shifting from a request to an order, and he thankfully obliged by dialing a number.
Not too long after came in Tommy, stumbling at the entrance on spotting me. Mr Grayson asked her to take a seat beside me and she followed suit.
''Mr Rathore is here for the scholarship issue, Tammy'', he enlightened. Seriously? The Principal too addressed her by her nickname? Were they at such good terms with each other?
''But I don't want to discuss about it, Sir'', she stated, not turning in my direction.
''A reason shall have to disclosed in case of termination of the scholarship, Sir. Its in our terms and conditions'', I too spoke looking at the Principal.
''Isn't 'personal reason' good enough?'', she snapped.
''Never been!'', I countered.
''Its my final year of Architecture, Sir, and dance distracts me'', she faked and I knew it. Liar, liar, back on fire!
''Haven't you always been good at multitasking?'' was the Principal's maiden intervention.
''Not at something that doesn't interest me'', was her quick reply.
''Dance isn't just her interest, Sir, its her passion'',
''To follow which I didn't deserve, at least not this way''
''This way? Which way?''
''This way'', interjected Mr Grayson and pointed towards the door. ''I think both of you should take the conversation outside. I've some more important task to tackle.'' We were politely being kicked out.
The two of us realized for the first time that the Principal was experiencing a tennis match, shifting his eyes between Tammana and me, as and when we spoke.
Tamanna muffled a laugh and exited the room while I silently followed behind.
''What made you say that you are undeserving, Tommy'', I asked.
''Why are you being so pretentious, Aryamann?'' she counter questioned instead of giving a straight forward answer.
''Why don't you simply tell me what made you to withdraw your name, Tommy?'', I demanded. ''No lies, no beating around the bush.''
The reason my ears heard didn't sound even a tad bit simple. It was commendable how Tamanna had dignifiedly managed to maintain her temperament when my dad was showering her with blessings of insults. I was indeed the son of a bitch!
''Why didn't you tell me last night?'' I enquired.
''Why did you lie to me, Aryamann?'' Her soft eyes made the hurt apparent. ''There could have been another way.''
''With Dr Sen being so adamant about not letting you dance and my best friend denying to confront him about her passion, I saw no other way than to take matters in my own hands. Trust me, Tommy, I had absolutely no intentions of hurting you'', I clarified.
''So you roam around distributing pounds of scholarships? Which businessman parent would be fine by that?'' she quizzed.
''At least once in his lifetime he did someone some good. And why are you so concerned about his bank balance when his own son isn't?'' I said.
''I am only concerned about being advantaged by influence. Sorry to have flushed your efforts down the drain, Aryamann, but I cannot continue'' she said.
''What about your passion, your mother's dream, Tommy?''
''It's taken care of, Aryamann'', she notified and I was all ears.
''Within ten minutes of receiving the news of my cancellation this morning, Akram Sir phoned me and said he wouldn't ask me it's cause. He had only ringed to inform me of his stage show scheduled for the next month. It's a kathak-contemporary fusion act.''
''The Akram Khan,'' in air quotes, ''called you up just to advertise about his upcoming programme?'' I said in disbelief.
''Nope. He called me up to ask me to be his...hmmm...lead kathak dancer'', she muttered low, uncertain if she owned the ticket with the lottery winning number.
''Wohoo! That's great news!'' I exclaimed. ''But why do you sound so unsure?''
''Because I have received no professional training in Indian classical dancing. Although Akram Sir ensured that a month's time is more than enough for it's lessons for a quick learner, I am afraid of not being able to personify his image of the lead to the mark'', she mouthed her worry.
''Whether you confide in your talents or not, I believe in you'', I comforted and she smiled at me for the initial time during the whole morning.
''Well, as of now I've accepted his offer. Fingers crossed for the near future'', she said.
''Is your Principal aware about it?'' I asked and she nodded in confirmation.
''No wonder why Mr Grayson is so calm about your cancellation. Scholarship or no scholarship, Akram Khan has special interest in you. By the way, is he single?'' I teased. She playfully slapped my arm in response and I pulled her nose in return.
''By the way, you owe me an icecream'', demanded Tommy and I knew it was for hiding the facts of the scholarship.
''Anything for you, Miss Tamanna Righteous Sen!'' I affirmed. ''By the way, why didn't you follow my dad's orders about staying away from me? So much in love with the handsome Aryamann Rathore?'' I added and mischievously wiggled my eyebrows.
''Yes, I am in love with you...r friendship!'' came her even more mischievous reply. Our eyes met and I understood that was an honest statement.
