Happy reading chapter 3:)
Tamanna's PoV :
After asking the cabbie to keep the change, I slowly climbed over the compound wall & threw a pebble at my sister's room window.
''Trisha, open the door!'', I called out softly, careful enough not to wake my dad.
She came out into her room's balcony & signalled me to wait. Sneaking inside the house, I cautiously climbed upstairs to my room.
''Tammy, you owe me a lot, you kno? Our deal was till 12 & for extending it for 2 hours, I want your favourite blue jacket too with your red tee'', Trisha demanded.
''You are asking for a lot, Sha! Not my favourite jacket please....!!'', I pleaded with a puppy face, hoping she would melt and not ask for extra consideration for helping me sneak out for the party without our dad's knowledge.
But no, her heart was like d stonehenge - built of unwavering rocks! She was adamant about what she wanted from my wardrobe in return for her favour.
I lowered my head & nodded in defeat, silently mourning in my heart over the loss of my dear jacket.
''Thank you sissy-missy!'', Trisha exclaimed with happiness while brutally pulling my cheeks. ''But what took you so long to return?'', she asked with concern. No matter how evil she could be at times, I knew my little sister cared about me.
I narrated all the events of the night to her with incy-vincy details - from the party to the breaking down of the scooter to the drama at the bus stop to the walk till the garage to the talk till the cab.
Knowing Trisha's tease-disease, I wasn't surprised at her response. ''You spent the night with an unknown guy? Wooooow... A walk to remember, ha? Ooooooo...'', she sang the last part in my ear.
''I didnt really spend the night with him. He was just trying to help me out, Sha. Don't imagine anything fishy!'', I tried my best to explain.
''Don't give me that bullshit, Tammy. Then how come you accepted help from a stranger? As far as I know you, you are not too comfortable with unfamiliar people. In addition, you also spoke in breathlessly high speed with him, which you only do with the known'', she reasoned.
Hell yeah! She talked sense.
''I don't know. I just felt some positive vibes from him. He didn't seem like he'd cause any problem'', I tried to justify it to myself more than to her. For the first time, I hadn't really given a second thought before having a conversation with a stranger.
''Then why didn't you share your contact number with him? Is that the way you show your gratitude, you rude? He must be so worried about you!'', Trisha enquired.
She showed more concern for him than she had shown for me. Biased!
''If you know me well, you'll also know that I don't share numbers this soon'', I said with a scrunched nose.
''& what about names? You've got a problem with sharing that too? So old school'', she said with an irritated expression.
''Great friendships begin being anonymous, you know'', I explained. ''If he finds a potential friend in me then he'll find a way to know my identity'', I added philosophically.
''ooooooo...'', she sang again. ''How exactly was Mr X?''
''Mr what?'', i asked.
''X is the variable for unknown, duh!'', she said with an obvious tone. ''I wonder how you managed to pass high school algebra. Since you don't e1 know his name, let's call him Mr X. Now c'mon. Tell me more about him.''
It didn't require efforts to remember a person like Mr X.
''5 feet 10 inches tall, broad shouldered & a slightly muscular frame. Wheatish indian tone skin, light brown spiked up hair, brown litte eyes that held a lot of questions in them, sharp nose & a broad jaw line were his facial features. In his simple navy blue tee, cargo pants & stunning Beats headphones clinging around his neck, no girl could walk away without glancing at him.''
''Ooooooo.. You swam in the depths of his eyes? So it's a case of love at first sight! Ahem ahem..'', she coughed teasingly. I just face-palmed myself at her filmy reaction.
''You know I don't believe in that crap, Sha. That happens only in movies. How can you fall in love in just a glance? That's not called falling in love with a person, its falling in love with their face! Merely infatuation. Love is way deeper. It's like.....'', I was trying to put forth my views & she cut me in the middle saying, ''I didn't ask for a lecture here, Tammy. You're absolutely abnormal. I doubt if you have any active hormones in you. The day you fall in love will be the day the earth will stand still!''
Ignoring her dramatic remarks, I pulled out the two things she demanded from my wardrobe & handed them to her. But Trisha isn't the one to keep quiet so soon.
''So what's your relationship status with him?'', she enquired.
''Why particularly with him? I'm still happily single, Sha'', I said bluntly.
''There's a relationship status with every person we meet, Tammy. What's your's with him?'', she questioned again.
''Hmm...Then maybe it's 'Strangers with memories' with him'', I answered thoughtfully.
''ooooooo...'', she sang again. ''That sounds interesting'', she said with a wink.
What's with this girl and her tease-disease? I needed to get rid of her at this very moment. I kept a finger on my lip & with the other hand, I pointed towards the door. She understood my indication & quietly exited my room.
As soon as I thought that she wouldn't disturb me now, she re-entered the room & sang, ''Happy Mr X dreams!''
I just rolled my eyes at her & ordered, ''Buzz off!!'' She thankfully obeyed this time.
After so much of walking, I was too exhausted to change into my pajamas. So I just jumped onto my queen size fluffy bed & closed my eyes to sleep.
Abruptly I noticed a strange movement on my face. My lips were turning into a curve.
I slept with a broad smile on my face that night.
''Thank you, Mr X'', I whispered.
