You don't ever have to be sorry for the way that you feel

_____________

TOM

"Dad I need to talk to you," I said when I walked into the kitchen. My father was making some food for himself. Not for us, for him

"Go ahead, I don't have much time" he didn't even turn around while talking

"Me and my friends are leaving for a trip. I'll be gone for four days. Jenna will take care of Avery until I get home"

My father turned to finally look at me. For some reason, his jaw was clenched

"You think I can't take care of my daughter?"

I chuckled "The hell you don't. Tell me when was the last time you made her dinner or gave her a ride" I crossed my hands over my chest

"That doesn't matter Thomas, I am still her father just like yours"

I looked him in the eyes and walked closer. Close enough I could feel his breath on my skin. He looked a bit afraid when I clenched my teeth

"You stopped being my father the moment you killed Mom" I grunted. His eyes were showing me how much I am right. They were scared, scared I'll find the truth "I won't leave her alone with you never. I don't trust you at all" I whispered, turned around, and walked back into my room

"Thomas" my father growled "we need to talk about what happened at school"

I turned back with a disgusted look "Since when do you even care"

"I'll let you alone when you tell me" This made me agree

"There was some girl at school, a total bitch. We had an exchange of views and the principal saw it" and yesterday we made out in her car

I'd tell her why I did it but I don't know. I don't like that jerk she's going out with. I probably wanted her to know he's not as good at kissing as I am. That's all, I was jealous now it's gone. Almost

"She hot?" I nodded to my dad's question. He used to be like that before Mom died. He wasn't the best but not the worst either.

"Will she be on that trip?" I nodded again

"Her best friend is dating my friend, she made her go"

"Maybe there was another reason why she agreed" I looked down and nodded once again "Go to sleep son, goodnight" At that point, I was already halfway through the stairs.

This reminded me of the times before the accident. Before my father became a complete asshole.

We discussed girls I've met or banged in the kitchen with a beer in hand. At that time, Mom was already asleep. She'd kill me if she'd seen me with beer when I was sixteen

I silently opened my room door and looked at the beauty sleeping on my bed.

She was spread all over my sheets, mouth hanging open but she still looked adorable

I picked her up and walked her into her room. We watched Soy Luna after the little nap and now it's 9 pm. She often sleeps at this time already

Her sleeping lamp was on when I was leaving the room. I last looked at her before closing the door and locking them.

She knows I do that when she sleeps alone in her room. She has the spare key. I didn't tell her why I'm doing it, I don't want her to be scared of her own father

I told her it was because of thieves and murderers. Better than being scared of someone in the house. She loves horror movies so I guess she won't freak out when someone's banging on the door trying to get in
