(third person POV)

Toby eventually woke up after all that crying and looked around him. The sun was blocked by stormy clouds. He checked his phone. 11.43. a.m. He had been gone for hours.

Getting up, Toby subconsciously walked to Cloudell Burgers, the place where it had all happened, the place where it started...

Everything was just like they had left it 3 days ago. Clara's black staff apron was still on the ground where she had left it, covered in a thin layer of dust. The burgers that they had been served were on the floor, and were slightly rotten now. Tables and chairs knocked over in their haste to escape. Toby looked at the reflective metal Pastel had put on the wall for no real reason (she said it was a mirror but she had no real mirrors, so she just put some reflective metal), and gasped.

His eyes were now black with orange pupils.

Toby blinked repeatedly. His eyes still remained the same. He felt his back and felt four small tentacles there.

What the hell is this shit, Toby thought.

Probably because he was distressed. He took deep calming breaths and looked at the reflective metal again.

His eyes were back to normal now, and the tentacles had disappeared.

Do they only come when I feel strong negative emotions? Toby thought to himself.

Toby looked around him and saw the ghosts hovering there.

"Did you know this?" he asked.

"I knew. Both you and Ember really are full of surprises." Cloudy said.

"Please explain what the hell this is."

"Well, when Ember and you were escaping with the others, you fell unconscious due to stress and not eating for a while. Ember gave you something that she would know would keep you in a stable condition."

"Then why didn't it show during all of that? After what happened after the wedding?" Toby said.

"Well, I don't know either. Ember told me that it would sustain you for a week which meant it didn't show until after it had sustained you enough, which, surprise, was how long the war and the post-war lasted until the end of it all. You were in a good mood, so it didn't show at all. But now that you are a absolute wreck of a person, guess it showed." Cloudy said.

"Wait, how do you know about this, Cloudy? During the war, you were on the opposing side." Twilight asked.

"Well, Ember passed information to me. She was worried about you, and I was the first person she thought of for help."

"That makes sense." Toby said. "I should probably camp out here for a while, I don't want to see Clara and Pastel for now. Now that I have one more thing to worry about..." Toby sat down and buried has face in his knees.

"We'll go now, Toby?" Cloudy's said.

"Okay." Toby said.

The ghosts left and Toby was left there feeling absolutely confused.

"I should take a nap..."

(Clara POV)

"We are here."

Pastel pulled apart some branches and twigs to reveal the cave she had been talking about.

"You sure he went here?" I said uncertainly. "Well, we searched the jungle around the base and we couldn't find him. The next closest place was the cave I mentioned." Pastel said, with that usual stubborn face I was used to.

"Alright. But if something happens, I'm out of there immediately. Okay?" I said.

"Fine, okay." Pastel reluctantly said.

We both stepped in the cave. Due to my ability to turn into a mouse, I also had passive night vision that I could activate whenever I wanted to. And I'm guessing since Pastel is a vampire, she has night vision too, but we decided to put torches on the wall as well.

We walked a while before we reached our first fork.

"We go left because no one treated me right, or we go right because everyone left me?" I joked.

"Hey! Clara! Now is not the time for jokes! We don't know whether this cave is dangerous or not!" Pastel scolded.

I laughed at the 16 year old. "Yeah, sure."

"I'll go left and you go right. If you encounter anything, just scream as loud as you can. I'll do the same if anything happens to me. Keep your ears ready." Pastel said. "Alright?"

I gave her a thumbs up. "Alright , let's go." I said.

Pastel went into the left side and I went into the right side. It was a long walk, and I eventually reached what looked like a door, but it required a code.

Great. A coded door.

I was about to start brute-forcing the code, when I heard Pastel's scream.

"Oh no, Pastel's in trouble!"

I immediately turned on the jetpack function on my mech pack and flew out of my tunnel, into Pastel's left tunnel.

Just then, something collided into my face. I pulled it off and saw Pastel, as a bat.

"What are you doing here?" I said. "We have to run!" Pastel exclaimed. "What do you-"

I stopped mid-sentence as I saw what was at the end of the tunnel. There was what looked like a hypnotised horde of hostile mobs coming our way.

Instinct took hold of me and I ran for my life, Pastel flying behind me. We reached the fork where we had split up, and I immediately put some stone down to block the path.

"There were too many to fight. I had to just scream and run for it." Pastel said before I even could ask.

"Well, anything else other than that horde?" I asked. "Nope. I guess the right tunnel was the right way. Anyways, what did you find on the other end?"

"A door secured with a code. I was about to start brute-forcing the code before you screamed." I said.

Pastel sighed. "Maybe we should come back later..."

Soon, both of us were out of the cave. "Do you think Toby's been kidnapped too?" Pastel asked me. "I'm hoping not... He already has so much on his mind right now." I said.

"Maybe we should head back to base and form a decent plan there." Pastel said. "Yeah, you're right. Mind carrying me?"

Pastel sighed, but turned into a bat again while I turned into a mouse. She picked me up and we both went towards the base.
