Lontari's eyes slightly opened up. He could only see blue. He could only taste the blood he had shed. The air was all he could smell.
He opened them up completely and found himself atop the friendly orange dragon. He felt the wound on his stomach, and stuck his hand out, engulfing it in a purple aura. He pressed it against his stomach, and within seconds the pain disappeared.
"Think you could do that for me too, son?" asked Axel's voice.
He sat up and saw him sitting in front of him with his legs crossed. On his stomach was a bloodstain twice as big, and running down to his chin from his forehead was a red stream of bodily juice. Someone this strong without magic powers is scary, especially when they are immune to them. But then how would they save Magic Island?
"Sure..." Lontari said, crawling over and placing his hand on Axel's stomach. The pain gradually disappeared, until the purple aura on his hand vanished.
"Thanks," said Axel.
Lontari collapsed on his back. "Oh my God. What a fight."
"What has happened?" asked Axel.
"Long story short: Occidifu's kid whooped my ass. Even ice didn't do any good."
"Well like I've stated. Their-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Their armor is magic proof. I think I got the memo now."
Lontari looked around. "Hey, where's my sword? Oh no, don't tell me I left it behind."
Axel pulled out the sword from behind him. "No, no, son. It's right here. I kept it for you."
Lontari smiled and kindly took it. "Oh, great. Thanks."
He looked down at the infinite plot of land that they flew so high above. His fight with Declan, and even Occidifu and his army of explorers in general, are starting to bug him. Since magic is as good as useless, even the most effective abilities including ice, he had to use some physical moves other than swinging a sword. But the problem is, how?
"Mr. Winddragon?" he asked.
"Yes?" Axel responded.
Lontari sighed and rested his elbows on his knees. "Do you... really think I can defeat these guys?"
Axel looked up at him with a confused and shocked look. It just did not make any sense. He was so confident when he first met him, which was completely unexpected. He thought he'd have to do a lot of begging, but that didn't happen. So, what is the problem now? It must have been the fight with Occidifu's son.
"I mean..." Lontari continued. "I got totally creamed today. Occidifu's son's fighting moves were off the frickin' charts. I could barely inflict any damage. He even broke through the ice when I froze him. I used fire, ice, and this black energy to attack him. It was really strong and could kill a monster in seconds. But this kid? Oh no. If I can't defeat him, how can I go up against his dad, and the rest of this tyrannical cult?"
"Now, Lontari, where is this coming from? C'mon, don't let the fact that their armor is magic proof get to you!"
"I know that, but... That kid's skills... These warriors' combat skills are out of this world."
"Yes, I too got beaten by them today. But we mustn't give up. You mustn't give up. Multimages are very powerful, I tell you. How I wish there were more of them in the world..."
Lontari sighed and laid on his side. Magic against magic-proof armor still did not click for the young teenage boy.
"Look," said Axel. "Don't give up. I know you can fight him. Now get ready, we're just a short mile away from Skotadi."
