Chapter 13: The Rex And The Raptor

Rexy awoke in the warm air (it was always warm), and in the moonlight, which was slightly brighter than usual. She decided to take a walk, as she couldn't sleep, and she had nothing better to do. Besides, she hadn't explored in a while. She walked into the jungle, seeing a few Gallimimus flocks in forest clearings. She wasn't hungry, so the most she did was let out low rumbling growls, to keep them on their toes, and to remind them who was queen of the island. She walked for about 25 minutes, before stumbling into another pack of Galimimus. She watched from behind a bush. Suddenly, she heard rustling in a bush a few yards away from her. The flock didn't appear to hear it. She looked over, and through the grass blades, she saw the raptor with the blue stripe, slowly inching towards the pack. Rexy remembered that one, for she had helped her take down the white monster that threatened everything as long as it lived. The raptor had earned Rexy's respect after that. She had seen her around the island a few times, and twice, she had even chatted with it, though it was a bit difficult to talk, thanks to their differences in species, as their sounds were not exactly the same. Suddenly, she charged, and lunged at a Gallimimus. The others ran away, but she had hooked it with her talons, and wouldn't budge. She put its neck in the inside of her mouth, bit down, and wriggled her head around, with its neck in her mouth. Eventually, it stopped struggling, and 5 minutes later, it completely stopped moving. Rexy decided to reveal herself now.

Blue got her prey. She let go of the neck and the rest of it, and it flopped and slammed on the ground, saggy and lifeless. She started to eat. She grabbed chunks of flesh with her mouth. The wet, warm carrion tasted refreshing, and downright addictive if you hadn't eaten in a few days, which she hadn't, because she was too weak after the battle with the white thing. Suddenly she heard a small, yet booming sound. It was like a weird vibration. Suddenly, she felt vibrations. She looked over at a small hole of water, at it sloshed about with ripples. Suddenly, a tree snapped. She looked over where to sound came from, and saw a big shape, with a massive shadow. It was getting closer and closer. She was about to snarl, when it came into the light, and revealed itself as the massive queen of the island herself.

Rexy looked down at Blue, not trying to be threatening, or even assertive, though it was a bit hard, being that her species was literally tyrannical. She let out a roar to announce her arrival, though it may have come across as a threat. Blue got a bit defensive at that. "Look, I'm sorry if this is your territory. I can go... or-" "No! No no, it's okay. I just wanted to know if I could stay here. "Umm... sure?" Blue answered, though she did unintentionally frame it as a question. After all, she was quite taken aback by how calm she seemed. "Could I ask why you want to stay in the same area as me, with me?" Blue asked. "Oh, I just didn't want to be alone. I wanted to relax. Relaxing without you is just a bonus." Rexy responded. She slowly plopped down onto the ground a few feet away from Blue. "Did you want any food?" Asked Blue. Rexy grunted a "No." in response. Works for her. "So, how are your wounds?" Blue asked, assuming the white monster did painful damage. "Healing." Rexy said. "Not the first time sharp talons have pierced my body." Rexy thought back to the battle in the building with the raptors. They were more aggressive, unlike Blue, who seemed quite calm and sane in comparison. But she showed them. Blue ate her fill, than she looked over at Rexy. "So, uh, do you want to not be enemies?" "What?" Rexy asked, turning to face Blue. "I just thought you were trying to be casual, so did you just not want to fight?" Rexy pondered. She did always think Blue was smarter than the other things here. Maybe she would benefit from an ally. "Sure." Rexy said. "I'd like a friendly face to see around." She said. "Nice." Blue said, smiling. She put her head against Rexy's leg. Rexy was surprised at the touch, but eased into it, and felt calmer. Blue stopped, and looked at Rexy. "I'm gonna leave now, if that's okay." "Oh ok," Rexy said. "It was nice talking to you." "Yeah." Blue said. "See you around, Rexy." "Bye, Blue." Rexy called to Blue, as she ran back into the forest. A very comforted Rexy went to sleep, knowing she had a new friend. And Blue knew as well.
