EDDIE: that night was special. I mean, not just because we got our shot with Teddy Price.

VIENNA: I mean, Teddy price was great but that night. I don't know, it's just not the first thing i think of when i remember that night.

KAREN: I pretty much crashed as soon as we got back from the diner. I'm pretty sure Vienna went down to the strip.

WARREN: We did that a lot, mostly me and vi. We were just always on the same brainwave like that [laughs] if i could go to anyone for a guaranteed night of adventure it would be Vi.

GRAHAM: Vienna and Warren were dangerous.

EDDIE: if warren had a stupid plan, Vienna was his go-to and vice versa.

KAREN: My best memories of LA were with them two, doing the most random shit in the most random places.

VIENNA: One time, we came across this place i think it was called 'sugar shack' [laughs] we had not a single clue that it was a gay club.

WARREN: It was the best night, man. They played better music than most of the big clubs on the strip.

VIENNA: anyway, that night we'd just gone to this shifty little hotel bar. Warren had managed to sweet talk this really pretty blonde into taking him back to her place. I walked back pretty soon after, I didn't mind.

" s'everyone asleep?" she asked, leaning on the doorframe that connected the kitchen and their small living room.

Eddie was on the sofa, glass bottle in his right hand. There was soft music playing from the creaky old record player the lady had left behind. He looked over his shoulder, shrugging softly before speaking. "grahams gone with billy for more beer," he said, lukewarm.

"what about Karen?" he shrugged in response. She scoffed softly, rolling her eyes.

VIENNA: I mean we spoke, we joked but we never really talked properly. not about things that mattered anyway.

She walked down the hall, the soft clanking of the bangles on her wrists filling the small hallway. She pushed the door about a quarter open, wincing at the harsh sound. Poking her head in, she could just about make out Karena body spread out in the middle of their bead. It looked like she was taking the couch.

Eddie had assumed that would be it, that she would go bc to bed and they would be spared another word. That was until he heard the jingle of her jewellery and footsteps approaching once again. He looked to her once again, she smiled before circling the coach and dropping down beside him. He smiled that cheshire grin, taking another sip of his beer.

"what're we listening to?" she asked, pulling her knees into her chest.

"it was already on there, I just turned it on." he shrugged, she said nothing. Just listened for a minute.

VIENNA: it was Van Morrisons 'brown-eyed girl'

EDDIE: that song. It may as well've been hers.

The brunette hummed along softly, "I love this song," She grinned.

EDDIE: She sang along to chorus, y'know half-assed but it was still good. really good.

"I didn't know you could sing," he laughed softly, shaking his head.

"I cant," she laughed too, reaching over to grab his beer and take a sip.  "my dad used to play this for me and my mom." she smiled, eyes falling to the bottle in her hand.

EDDIE: she could. Maybe i'm a bit biased, but i still think her voice is the nicest to listen to. I could listen to it for hours.

Eddie laughed at that, "i don't know," he paused, "I cant picture martin with a guitar in his hands."

Her smile dropped a little, He noticed and felt it in his gut. She shook it off a little, a ghost of a smile still present on her lips as she spoke "Martin isn't my dad."

"oh," He straightened his back up. She wasn't upset with him, she was upset with herself.

VIENNA: It  felt like i'd replaced him or something. I hadn't, i didn't even get along with Martin. I don't know just something about people thinking my dad was someone like Martin and not who he really was. It made my bones ache.

"He's back in New York."  She shrugged, "I grew up there."  She spoke handing him back his beer and standing up to stretch her legs.

"he walk out on you or something?" he asked, instantly regretting just how prying it sounded.  "wow, i didn't-"

"Something like that," she cut him off,

EDDIE: It was the first time she'd actually opened up about anything. Small steps y'know. She was always so closed off.

WARREN: In reality, we knew nothing about her other than the fact she was there when we needed her to be.

GRAHAM: closer didn't necessarily mean close when it came to her.

"how many you had?" she asked motioning to the half empty bottle. She leant on the arm of the couch, brows raised slightly.

"are you going to give me a good telling off?" he quipped grinning.

"would you like that, Eddie bear?" he groaned at the name, "are you buzzed?" he shook his head. "fuck it, dance with me anyway."  she demanded, holding her hand out.

He shook his head, laughing nervously. "trust me, vi. I've got two left feet."

"Dancing can't be where you draw the line," she pulled him up, grabbing his shoulders as he stumbled forward. "I heard what you were doing when Karen first moved in,"

He accepted his defeat, moving his body to the music.

VIENNA: we [laughs] I don't even know if you could call it dancing. We jumped around that room like lunatics.

KAREN: The fuckers woke me up. All i could hear was van Morrison and this  frequent giggling. I got up walk down the hall and saw them there. They didn't see me. I smiled and went back to bed.

EDDIE: I remember laughing and laughing. I couldn't stop laughing. It was special, really.

VIENNA: then there was this moment when i looked up and he had stopped. He was stood there, still just staring.

EDDIE:  [whistles] it was intense. I mean, we were just staring at each other for i don't even know how long.

VIENNA: jagged breaths and a room full of words unsaid. He opened his mouth to speak.

EDDIE: I went to say something, but we heard the door opening.

VIENNA: that's when we knew about Teddy Price. I think i cared more about what Eddie had to say.
