Eels but no hard feels

I waited after Killua's explanation of the next phase and immediately asked if he was serious, much to his and Gon's amusement.

"Guys. Those are electric eels. Those are tightropes. Are you guys insane?" I ramble, watching exam takers sit out or look around for who would go first.

"Nope." Gon smiled, "Just try your best! we're taking the exam to personally check on performance, but nobody really volunteered this year so we had to fill in...What I mean is, if we can do it, so can you!" he finished pushing me over to the muddy end of the cliff.

"Come on don't tell me you're afraid if heights." Killua snickered, in a better mood now that we met up with Gon. I couldn't blame him, Gon being a ball of sunshine.

"I-I'm just afraid of the fall...and don't talk so big! Why don't you go first then, Mr.Zoldyck?" I huff.

He shrugs, putting his arms behind his head and walking calmly over to the swaying line of death.

"I swear if you do it perfectly I'm gonna be sooo upset. Well I doubt its even possible you'll make it half way." I mumble as he walks by.

He looks at me and scoffs, "How much do you wanna bet?"

I cross my arms, "Free meals for a week at any diner of the winners choosing." I offer.

He turns back to the rope and replies with "Better start saving up." before calmly walking on the rope a few steps before I let my jaw drop.

On the other two lines people are already across, and I watch as people start falling off into the depths of sizzling water and sharp teeth. Screams fill the air and sobs of people left behind that knew them stop and start here and there.

"Hoe don't do it-" I whisper as Gon cheers Killua on, who's merely seconds from the middle and-

"OHMYGOD!" I groan as I fall to my knees, defeated as Gon lightly pats my shoulder in comfort.

"Its okay Sienna, Killua is really skilled so its not your fault. I'll try not to let him clean out your wallet. LET'S GO!" he suddenly grabs me by the wrist and pulls me along a few feet before letting me go and try on my own.

I look up at the clouds instead of the open earth, and begin walking after taking a moment to calm down.

"God dammit Gon that so wasn't cool!" I call, looking forward as he chases Killua the rest of the way in a full fucking run.

"But did you die?" Killua jokes, already on the other side of the cliff with most of the exam takers. He side eyes my feet and Gon casually takes looks and hears conversations from the other participants.

"WELL I DON'T KNOW KILLUA MAYBE A LITTLE." I call back, eyeing everyone who's made it. I rip my eyes from Hisoka the moment he even slightly turns in my direction, and take in my surroundings as I balance myself.

The sky were shades of fire and small puffs of grey clouds. The wind seems to start picking up too, and I struggle to keep my hair in place and my skirt from floating up too high. I grip the straps of my bag tighter, thankful I didn't wear my jacket since the flappy end would have probably caused me to fall. The air smells of rain, and I snap back into reality once I realize I'm already over the cliff.

"See? Its kinda cool if you don't over think it." Gon comments as he calls everyone's attention and we start running again.

I make my way to the front behind Killua, shivering when I hear Hisoka as I pass.

"Almost wondered what you would do since you can't swim as well as you can fight." he teases, adding an odd flair to the word fight, and I glare at him before making it to the front and feel the rain pouring down in buckets.

"Shit." me and Killua curse under our breaths. We follow Gon and a few others in front that begin trekking down what seems an endless amount of concrete stairs built into the other side of the mountain.

I put on my goggles once again to protect my eyes, the sky suddenly going dark. Me and Killua end up on either side of Gon and we try to talk over the thunder and yelps from the exam takers once the sudden sharp, white roots of lighting decorate the sky.

"Gon! Hey, Gon! Was rain apart of the exam?" I call, starting to feel the slight burn of exercise in my legs.

"Not really but we were warned it might happen!" he replies.

"Eh!? When was this? I wasn't told anything!" Killua calls, trying to speak over the loudest crack of thunder so far.

"Ah! I forgot to tell you! Sorry, Killua!" he replies and I role my eyes as Killua merely replies with "Idiot!"

Screams from all around can be heard as the stomping of feet down the stairs thin out, and I try to keep the pace in time with Gon as much as possible.

We finally reach a clearing, and suddenly stop. Killua and Gon look up as if searching for something, holding their hair out of their eyes.

We all look around, slightly confused and annoyed. "Oi...Gon. What are we um, what's the deal here?" I ask, looking up at the darkened clouds as well.

"The blimp." He says, his brow crinkled in concentration.

"A blimp?" A surprisingly overweight man with a long blonde stripe of hair asked me, and I shrugged.

"No," Killua called. "The blimp." He grumbled.

"Ah. The blimp." I say, turning my ear to the exam takers for once. Trust and bonds were in the making at the moment.

"What blimp?"

"Maybe its the fancy Hunters blimp from two years ago!"

"Ohhhhh I heard the view is amazing!"

"Psst...weren't two examinees nearly killed? By that one assassin kid, I hear he didn't want to be one, though..."

I shoot my gaze over to Killua and Gon, and notice Killua click his tongue and cross his arms.

"Wow, really? Brutal!"

"Kid really are worst then adults, am I right?" One of the four mumble, snickers ensue.

I calmly walk over to him, and look around once more. I notice Gon is grinding his teeth, bothered as well.

"Barely held back, eh?" I sigh, patting Gon's shoulder as Killua slightly turns.

He probably looks upset, but I cut him off.

"Its all right. You're not an assassin. You have a good heart and a good friend. Both of you do. You guys can be anything you want. Assassins have no restraint, no matter how much they pretend. And both of you-no matter who you've killed-are each others restraints. Rely on each other." I simply say, stepping forward to get a better angle of the clouds, and hoping they don't respond.

I'm a little confused on why I even said anything, though. Why should I care?

Because they're....different?
